The Power

The Power (2015) is a daring, atmospheric horror film that leans into its darkness-both literally and figuratively. Its strength lies in creating an oppressive, uncanny mood that lingers, even if its pacing occasionally falters. Fans of slow-burning psychological horror and cult underground cinema may find a compelling experience here-one that pushes you to confront fear without offering easy answers.

Fans of Rosemary's Baby and Hereditary cannot miss this powerful horror movie. Abducted and imprisoned by a cult, Magda awakens in a filthy cell. Despite hearing distant voices, her screams for help go unanswered. In time, she befriends another hostage, a girl who provides some comfort, while the cult prepare their demonic dark ritual. A compelling dark and great film made by Paul Hills with such a great cast. Valentine Pelka is marvellous as the main villain in it. So cold and calculating that he's entertaining the whole way through. Very dark ending as well which leaves the audience wanting more.

I can already tell the film was shot on "film" just by looking at it. And I love it. But with camera specs aside, let's explain why I loved this film.

Well it's original and in its own way has a lot of importance to offer any audience. That subject is satanism. The director must have done his research on this. The script goes deep into what satanism is, how powerful it is and what kind of wingspan it has (probably in real life). But do you take it seriously? I think you should because this information wasn't made up overnight.

Cinematically, the horror scenes have been shot sort of like the 1971 film "the devils" or at least it looks like it in my opinion. Despite its own style, that's as close to a visual similarity I can think of.

I strongly recommend this film to anyone. Even if you are not a fan of horror.

I checked this out really just to support an online friend of mine who has a small part in the film and I was pleasantly surprised with how good this film is! It's a low budget British indie horror film which is a slow burner character driven psychological horror about a satanic cult. I'm not usually a fan of slow burners, but the performances and very dark theme meant I never got bored and the finale was extremely dark and shocking. I highly recommend it

Nobody under 18 should see this film. Also, pet lovers, if you love cats especially, please skip this movie altogether unless you want PTSD.
