I wanted to start by saying, I've never watched a pilot more than once in the same week but with this show, I did. When the second episode aired, there were bits that were bothersome to me and I wasn't quite sure where it was going. However, after watching the third episode, I finally get to see where it's headed and I absolutely love it. I think everyone should give this series a chance and if you don't like it, that's fine but I can't say this show is similar to anything else on TV. I love how different it is and the entertainment factor is through the roof. The chemistry between characters is excellent and the acting is up to par. This is most definitely a show I'll be following!

I really like the idea of a Beauty more determined and more ready to kick some b...in the quest for the truth. It is a different concept and a different Vincent. I truly don't get it how can one review a TV show after such a short while. Clearly some of us need to be patient. They will fall in love...I mean you have to be blind not to notice the chemistry ( she is obviously extremely attracted to him and vice versa)but where will be the fun if he would jump her bones in the first episodes? Also , the obvious adrenaline issue ( he turns when it kicks in) which was so carefully underlined by his friend -" Remember what happened the last time you made the play list?" - will most likely be in the way.
I mean, really you guys , give it a chance and stop expecting hot sex and blasting love from the first episodes. Next...you will say the kiss ( which has yet to happen) was lame. Does anybody remember the classic series? How long did it took for them to actually kiss...

Don't give a fig about the haters.
Props to the producers and creators. You can almost see the recipe take shape.
Start with one of the most beautiful women in the world. Oops -- see the hook? A beauty. What famous plot arcs have a beauty in them? How about the original French fable of Beauty and the Beast?
Sure its been done a zillion times, but this time we will do it in Canada which (as any student of film knows) makes it instantly lucrative because of the exchange rate ....?
There were a thousand ways they could have screwed this up. In fact, you can see in the first few episodes of S01 they they actually tried to make a cop show out of it. And they decided to give the writers a carte blanche to play up the chemistry between Kreuk and Ryan, and boy is there chemistry.
You can say the show is manipulative and over-written but so is every soap opera ever done, and this entire series is one long romantic soap opera that (shades of Buffy!) has some violence thrown in here and there.
It works. And it works well.

I am on my honeymoon with Jay Ryan
and the cast of Beauty and the Beast! I am deliriously happy to have crossed the threshold of infatuation to this deep commitment. Never mind I have been married for seven years to someone else, and -oh yeah- I have never met Mr. Ryan or the other talented actors who have been flawlessly cast as my new extended fantasy family. I feel I have begun a beautiful relationship that despite the looming winter hiatus will stand the test of time until death or series finale do us part. I am besotted by Vincent and Catherine, the romantically challenged characters portrayed by Jay Ryan and Kristen Kreuk. As with any new love, I eagerly await the arrival of the object of my affection each Thursday and I feel sadness at the end of each encounter. In between, my thoughts stray constantly to my fixation and I have to restrain myself from chattering on to my friends and loved ones for fear of being labeled "obsessed" with a capital O.
Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but I am already gritting my teeth in anticipation of the caustic emptiness I will feel as a result of being deprived of Vincent and Catherine's company each dark Thursday during the winter break. Without J.T., the rankled roommate brilliantly played by Austin Basis, to make me laugh, I might have to think up my own witty remarks. I happen to be fluent in sarcasm, but Nina Lisandrello's Tess gives me a strong enough dose of it with her facial expressions alone that I can almost communicate normally the rest of the week. In short, I don't know what I will do without them all for the hiatus- though I may go ahead and celebrate Christmas since I will have some extra free time.
I wonder if it is premature to offer up such a glowing opinion of the show's first half season prior to seeing episode 9, "Bridesmaid Up!" this week. Having seen the promos, I have a feeling it will be breathtaking, but I am worried it will leave me hanging painfully until 2013. I have even thought about saving it on my DVR for a couple of weeks so I don't have to go as long without a hit of my favorite new endorphins. Then I am reminded of how it felt to wait to see my husband back when we were dating and I was all over the country touring with a show while he led a "normal life" in between flying to see me in various cities. The anticipation of his arrival was more than I could stand. Knowing the show is there on the box waiting to be seen would be like waiting in my hotel room when I could be at the airport watching for his plane to land. I am just that much in love with these wonderful characters.
Catherine is just the perfect mix of smart, kick-ass cop and and tender woman-child, missing a mother she may not have understood and fighting a deep loneliness for which Vincent suddenly seems to be the cure. And Vincent is the perfect fantasy- all sensitive, emotional, and moral from the neck up and perfectly sculpted protector from the neck down. The dichotomy that tortures him with his transformations into the beast make him vulnerable and in need of the stabilizing, nurturing force of Catherine's instinctive attraction to him. It doesn't hurt that the actors bringing the pair to life are gorgeous to look at. Kreuk's beauty has a multi-ethnic advantage, and she is reportedly a long time martial arts expert and positive personality. Ryan, a New Zealander, has said he is following a strict workout and diet routine. This has enhanced his already handsome physique- but I can't stop watching his wonderfully expressive face. It is easy to see Vincent's unspoken thoughts come through his warm eyes.
The supporting cast is just as wonderful to watch. I feel for poor Evan, the medical examiner played by the charming, British Max Brown, who seems poised to have his heart broken fairly soon, but he will bounce back. And dear, peptic-afflicted J.T. Forbes- well, every government lab-created war mutant needs a biochemist roommate and best friend. I adore smart people. In fact, Austin Basis seems as smart in his way as the character he plays. In addition to being an actor, he is an artist and writer and appears to be a real, live smart-ass. He would be so much fun at dinner parties- and so would J.T. if he wasn't so worried about protecting his friend from the world and himself.
Some studies have shown that the "honeymoon phase" of a relationship lasts an average of eighteen months before the body adjusts to the neurochemicals that cause all the warm fuzzy feelings- but I adore this show and its cast so much I can see myself spending the rest of my life with them. The writers and creators have done a fabulous job creating the environment for the characters to come to life. Although my husband said at first that the premise of the show didn't interest him, I twisted his arm into watching the pilot and he is now going to watch all the episodes to catch up with me. I think he realizes that if I wasn't so uncomfortably pregnant these days, our own love life would likely benefit from the way this show makes my heart go pity-pat. I am a bit of an introvert and don't have a large social circle, so I don't personally know anyone else who is watching, but I am glad to see so much publicity and so many followers commenting about the show on twitter. I hope there will be more and more, because if the network does ever break my heart and cancel it, I may just have to sue for custody.

The storyline is very good and the acting and casting is perfect. I am rewatching it and can't stop binging. I wish more shows were as good as this one and wish it would return to Netflix.
I am currently watching it on youtube which has so many ads but i still watch.
Vincent is a great concept character and very plausible story of how he became a beast. Intertwined with Catherine character of being daughter of dr who turned him into a beast is clever.
I also find TJ and Tess very interesting sidekicks who ad comedy relief.
I love a good love story. This is definitely worth a watch. I am glad i found it.

While it takes more than one show to make a decision as to the quality of the show, one thing does stand out. That is the background music, which was totally overpowering. If I wanted to watch a music video I would not expect to find it on a TV drama show. The music was continuous through the total show. It overpowered the dialogue and everything else. The fact is that the background music should have only been used during the interludes of dialogue; never on top of it. Then so sparingly to continue the action. Did somebody get paid extra for the music or was it being played in the background during editing and got scored to the video.
Lets reduce the music so I can ascertain the quality of the show and determine what number it deserves for my vote.

People who deride this show either don't get the show, haven't watched enough episodes or just don't like romance. Sure, this is not a ground-breaking show, or super original, but is magical in its own way. The chemistry between Cat (the breathtakingly beautiful Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent (Jay Ryan - as handsome as Kreuk is beautiful) is off the charts. Its the only show whose episodes I can watch over & over again, and enjoy them as much as the first viewing, if not more so. The thing to "get" is that this is the story of an Epic romance, everything else is there to support the crux of the show. You watch all the Cop/Sci-Fi bits but are longing for the next scene when Vincent & Cat discuss their relationship. It has everything, action (however incidental it may be to the main romantic thread), cool music, light-hearted moments mainly provided by JT, and of course the colossal romance and explosive chemistry between Vincent & Cat. S2 E16, About Last Night, my favourite episode, typifies the show. It just been renewed for a 13 Episode 3rd Season (not the usual 22 episodes), and hope it will continue for a few more seasons yet, but even if it gets cancelled due to its poor US rating (its huge internationally, which is why its been renewed) we'll always have 57 magical episodes to watch over & over again.
Beauty and the Beast - so cliché. I've never thought how good this series is. I actually started watching it yesterday and couldn't help falling in love with Cat and Vincent. They're so beautiful, sexy and sweet. I love the way she touches him, the way he looks her like an heaven sent angel. Can't believe I have to wait next week to see their romance. Believe me, you're gonna love this show. By the way, Jay Ryan now is on my list. This scar makes him even hotter!!! I've just learn Vicent character temporarily leads of "The hottest guy CW chart", I voted for him, of course. This show will warm you up in this December. Enjoy this show, my friends!

I just came across this show a few years after it ended and I can't get over just how much I love it! While the storyline is always fun and exciting, the real MVP's here are Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan. Their chemistry is off the charts. If I didn't already know they were both in serious long term relationships in real life, I would probably be easily convinced they were actually in love with each other. Their emotions for one another really push through the screen onto the viewer in an impressive way. Kreuk's performance is always top notch and never wavers for an instant. In the end, while I enjoy the storyline and all of the supporting characters, its Kreuk and Ryan that really make this show shine.

I thought I would give this show a chance since Got finished. I am now on the second season and I am hooked! I LOVE the story line in season 2. S1 was a bit slow but i understand its an intro to the show. I love Kristin Kreuk (ever since Smallville) and she kicks ass! she is a bad ass woman, which I love. I hate those TV series where the woman is the victim and not the heroine!
Jay Ryan plays a good beast and they make a lovely couple. They have amazing chemistry which makes the story line of BATB great to watch. I love all the cast! Tess and JT are hilarious and there is a good amount of humour.

I've watched many Western TV drama with romantic story inside, but this is the first TV drama i've watched with a great chemistry romantic between the lead players, Kristin and Jay. It took my full attention when i watched every episodes. Their feelings are so real to be watched, great TV drama. I feel the romantics, their feelings so touched. I enjoy every episodes. Kristin is very suitable with Catherine character and so does Jay with Vincent. I can't really forget their chemistry, well played. If there are people don't like it, it's up to them, but at least give this TV drama a chance with more seasons. I think this drama will be a hit TV drama soon, just need more publications. It's a great drama with Kristin and Jay in it.

I am a fan of the 80's B&B, but I fell in love with this show. The characters were the best I have seen together in a long time. I have watched this over and over probably a 100 times. Wish it hadn't ended. Please make a continuation with the same people. LOVED IT.

If you were disappointed with the first few episodes, please revisit the series. It has grown away from the procedural show and is more intense, more action and more substance.
I for one was hooked from the pilot and was in awe of the chemistry between the characters from the beginning. Now I find I can't wait for each episode and replay them during the week while waiting for a new one.
You won't be let down, this is a fabulous show, the best on the CW network.
Yes, there are some plot holes and overused phrases, but viewers tend to overlook those small annoyances and stay tuned for the drama, the wit, the love story, and the music.
