Match Game

I'm very disappointed in this show and the comedy just came up lame in it.

First off, the host seems like his is very stiff and inexperienced. He just doesn't seem like he is able to create and carry on a natural sounding conversation with the competitors and the judges. His lines seem forced and even at some times mean, but without being funny or like a joke.

I agree with the other review that the judges are incredibly unprofessional and are simply not giving answers that are funny. What's worst is when they go out of their way to make up an answer they think is funny but then it's not funny and on top of that the answer is so crazy that the guesser has no chance to match up their answers and get points.

To put it simply it's like the judges don't understand how the game is supposed to work at all and they are only concerned with trying to give a funny answer and act wacky on television for themselves rather than help the competitors try to win the game and prizes. Which is just stupid and frustrating because they don't even succeed in being funny.

This is a pointless show and a huge waste of a tried and true game show that has been around for a very long time. It hasn't changed at all and I'm just disappointed every time I make the mistake of tuning in to try it again.

This game show is terrible! The only good thing about it is that the production values look OK, almost like they actually spent some money on making it unlike most shows on Canadian TV, especially game shows. But this show is really annoyingly awful. First off the host is always stumbling over words and just seems bored or boring, like he doesn't want to be there, he is not good at talking to the contestants or getting them to answer questions as if they are actually caring about being there at all. The guests on the show are awful. It seems like Sean Cullen and Deb from Videos On Trial are the two that are there every week and they are the most annoying people on earth. She won't shut up and is always running into other people's frames it's as if she is constantly shrieking "look at me look at me look at me look at me!!!" and Sean Cullen also talks constantly but instead of desperately pushing himself for the camera his just sings nonsense and makes up really weird things and clearly thinks this makes him hilarious. Sometimes he comes up with something funny but almost all of the time he's just shooting useless random **** out of his mouth. The other guests are also always terrible, like really terrible. The only thing they have to do is come up with an answer to a question so if they can't come up with one funny answer they can just put a real answer which I'm sure the contestants would like so they can actually get a match sometimes. But no they always get some actor from some other crappy Canadian show or some comedian and they always do the exact same thing, come up with the first sex act or body part they can think of and give that answer and expect everyone to laugh like they are a comedy genius. This show is just desperate and stupid and sad, there are almost zero laughs to be had and none of these people are interesting, even the contestants come off as bored and the contestants are the worst part of all of this show. Maybe it's because the host doesn't know what he's doing but they never say anything and when they do talk they're just mumbling stupid things and wanting to just get the show over with so they can win their prize which is also **** usually like fifty bucks or something. What a pathetic show! I wish I could stop paying taxes so they couldn't afford to make this ****.

This show is not worth watching in fact it is only worth flushing down the toilet. None of the comedians and actors on the show is ever funny. One girl always draws pictures, usually of a penis or something. The fat girl just shrieks and yells and screams. Every time they spin the wheel I grit my teeth because the fat guy always starts singing about how the wheel is spinning which I guess is supposed to be funny. They had John Hodgman the other day and even he was not funny but you can't blame him. The host seems to be going through the motions counting the seconds until he gets to cash his check. I swear at least half the time all their answers are penis or poo or something else related to that. Our tax dollars are paying for this garbage? Get some funny people who can keep the host and guests awake or cancel this piece of crap by flushing it and replace it with Match Game 73 which is currently airing on the game show network and is still much funnier than this show. I'm not kidding about that to be funny I seriously mean run Match Game 73 instead. Or why not rerun Kids in the Hall? That show was hilarious. What the hell is wrong with this channel that you can only make crap like that? Match Game sucks huge clackers.

This show is a perfect example of how far TV has fallen. Match Game was a winning TV game show formula that featured comedians who were funny in their day. Even watching reruns today you can find the show funny and it is entertaining and also the game show makes sense. But what they have turned it into is shrieking "comedians" who are doing everything they can to make sure they are the one getting on camera and the show has absolutely no intelligence or value at all. The other reviewer hit the nail on the head by saying all the answers are cheap and lowest common denominator. This show is an example of how our society is in decline, sorry if you think that's an exaggeration but I don't think so.

For fun the last time I watched this show (which will be the last time I watch it ever) I wrote down all the answers they gave before turning the channel (which made me feel good about myself). Here are those answers:

Prostitute, hooker, herpes, hooker with books, pearl necklace, prostitutes.

That's not unusual either, pretty much every round most of the answers are sexual or about body parts or bodily functions. The kind of scatological humour you would expect from a five year old or a clinical idiot. I'm not a prude, go ahead and give us the occasional dirty or lowbrow joke, but all the time? Really? Why are you people on TV if this is all you have to offer? Are you all sharing a brain? If so shouldn't at least one of you have the brain at any given time?

Please do yourselves and us viewers and society at large a favour and get off the air.

This show is insipid, straight up stupid and has no moral value either. It's not even entertaining or informative/educational. Not only do you shut off your brain to watch it I am 100% convinced that watching it has made me a less intelligent person. I give it 2 out of 10 because I don't mind the host, I like that he's not so over the top as most game show hosts out there. This show isn't funny and I just feel sick watching these people give their answers, knowing exactly what they will say because it's the same joke answers I would have given in high school.

"Bum, poop, fart, sex, boobs, hooker, prostitute, b-j's, gang bang, orgy, orgasm, stripper, underpants....." if that is your idea of quality TV programming, this is the show for you. If you have any self respect at all run don't walk to any other channel.

Shame on the Comedy Network. Your other programming is not much better if it's any better at all.

I am surprised by how overboard negative a lot of your reviews are fellow IMDb.com people.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that Match Game is a good show, it is not a good show.

But it is not a one out of ten or the worst game show ever or "garbage" or whatever else you are calling it. It is a growing concern to me that people always jump to one out of ten if they dislike something and calling it the worst movie ever, or calling something ten out of ten and he best movie ever if they like it at all. There are all those other numbers in the middle!

I give Match Game a four and I think it is slightly less than the average shows it is up against.

I say it is not very good for many of the same reasons you do. The contestants seem both bored and boring. The host is not very funny or personable but at the same time I sometimes find it refreshing that he is different from the other TV show hosts out there. The panelists and in particular Shawn Cullen and Debra D. are really awful and not very creative or funny at coming up with good fill in the blank answers.

Let's remember there are more ratings than just one or ten okay? It makes things more fun and much more fair.
