The original Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U is hands-down one of the best entries in the entire series. From the moment I started racing, I could tell this was something special. The graphics were gorgeous for its time, the soundtrack was dynamic and energetic, and the gameplay felt tighter and more exciting than ever before.
I'm really glad this game returned as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch - because Mario Kart 8 absolutely deserved a second life. The core game was already amazing, and it laid the foundation for what became the most successful Mario Kart of all time.
The introduction of anti-gravity racing added a fun twist to the traditional tracks, letting players zoom along walls and ceilings in a way that felt fresh without breaking what made Mario Kart fun to begin with. And with underwater driving and gliding returning from Mario Kart 7, this game felt like the ultimate package.
The original version came packed with 48 tracks (including DLC) - a massive selection that blended creative new courses with beautifully remastered retro tracks. Every race felt unique, and the replay value was endless.
This is one of those games that you can come back to again and again, especially with friends or online. It's a true gem in the Wii U library and an essential piece of Mario Kart history.

I got so excited when the Koopalings were playable for this game! Some of them got more personality traits and some of them got even cuter such as Larry and Lemmy!
I didn't expect Lemmy so suddenly sound much more high-pitched and squeakier! This game made me love Lemmy! Paper Jam, and Bowser Jr's Journey were icing on the cake!
Awesome Tracks: Check Awesome Music: Check Awesome Retro Tracks: Check Awesome Visuals: Check Awesome Character Roster: Kind of Awesome DLC Packs: Check Awesome Online and Local Multiplayer: Check This could have been 10/10, apart from Balloon Battle being the worst in the series: Check Coins being items: Check PINK GOLD FRICKIN PEACH!:Check Without these things, Mario Kart 8 would have been a 10/10 Still it's the best Mario Kart Game so far.
Prior to, I played the hell out of Wii Mario Kart. By this time I guess I was video game fatigued and like most gamers I was desperate to keep my gaming interest alive. However, for me, I can't be brainwashed into playing games, especially Nintendo games as an adult.
MK8 was a step-up from Wii MK. Even though, I guess due to nostalgia, I prefer to play Wii MK. MK8 had the better graphics, gameplay and new add-ons and courses were spectacular.
I'm not a gamer-person who will lie. I'll admit I struggled on MK8 probably because the energy I once had for games was loss. Then I basically stopped playing, gave away my Wii U.
Overall a beautiful game in some way Wii MK is better but MK8 has the better features, I hope that makes sense.

Although the Wii U was a commercial failure, I'm still glad I purchased it to play this game. The online modes were incredibly addicting and fun, even if the battle-mode was a little lacking and poorly setup.
I miss playing this one already!
