Flourished Peony

A big Disappointing, the plot is so heavy and slow

Flourished Peony had the potential to be a grand historical drama, but it ultimately falls short in several key areas. Despite its beautiful visuals and elaborate costumes, the story is bogged down by predictable plotlines and underdeveloped characters. The narrative leans heavily on clichés, with palace intrigue and romantic subplots feeling recycled from countless other dramas.

The pacing is another significant issue. Lengthy, drawn-out episodes filled with unnecessary scenes make it difficult to stay invested. The dialogue often feels flat and uninspired, failing to convey the emotional depth or intensity needed for the high-stakes setting.

Li Xian's performance as the male lead was underwhelming, to say the least. His portrayal lacked nuance and failed to capture the complexity of his character. In emotional scenes, his expressions often felt stiff or exaggerated, making it hard to connect with his struggles. This lack of authenticity undermined pivotal moments in the drama, leaving audiences frustrated.

Moreover, his chemistry with the female lead was virtually nonexistent. Their interactions felt forced, lacking the spark or emotional tension that the story desperately needed.

It was as though he was going through the motions without truly embodying the character.

Nice story Perfect acting

First of all,I have watched 6 episodes and the story is very interesting and attractive about a woman of Tang dynasty who wants to depend herself and dare to face difficulties. The main actress Yang Zi can show her great acting with strong desire. I also love the condition of female lead in this drama. She is more and more pretty. I wanna praised the designers as the costumes are very well prepared. The male lead Li Xian also suit with costumes too.

In this drama ,I am excited to watch the second lead Wei Zheming .

Just start watching first episode and I am sure that you will be attracted by the storyline,CGI and acting skills.

Trust the bad reviews

The film boasts an impressive texture from start to finish, captivating viewers with its striking visuals. Each scene is enriched by a beautifully crafted setting that immerses the audience in the enchanting world of Flourished Peony, where vibrant flowers bloom and stunning landscapes unfold. However, despite these aesthetic strengths, Yang Zi's performance falls short of the emotional depth the drama requires. Her portrayal lacks the nuance and expressiveness needed to fully engage the audience, particularly due to her technologically enhanced appearance, which seems to restrict her range of facial expressions. Furthermore, the storyline feels predictable and dull, lacking the originality to elevate the drama beyond visual allure.

Woman empowerment drama that beautifuly performed

Flourished Peony is woman empowerment drama that beautifuly performed by the whole cast, the acting is TOP notch, the storyline is engaging, the cinematography is on point, the setting details was so realistic. It was a great work of the whole team.

It truly lives up to it S++ drama quality, congratulation 👏🏆

As this was 2nd colab of Yang Zi & Li Xian, you can see their tacit understanding & the improvement they had after all this years.

Anyone honest enough, anyone who look for a good quality drama will definitely enjoy & like this drama.

The audiences will recognize genuine great acting.

It's really boring, and the makeup is so ugly

The most issue is the makeup makes them look so old especially the female lead her looks already no so pretty tbh and the makeup made her look more ugly, tang dynasty makeup doesn't fit all people i always have problems with this style, okay the costumes of this dynasty are good but the makeup omg i hate it so much.

People will say the makeup isn't really important as long as the story or acting is good but naah good costumes and makeup attract watchers that's what this drama ignored, and speaking of acting well i have watched both leads in other dramas i can tell in this drama they did nothing, they didn't fit the characters and there is no chemistry at all looks like everyone acted in separate ways, especially the female lead lack emotions i couldn't feel what she wanted to express, the male lead is so so, the sml is better, well i couldn't enjoy this drama, really tiktok edits sometimes fools me.

LOVE IT

This drama is fantastic so far and accurately depicts the Tang Dynasty. I felt like I travelled to that period of time and the OST. So beautiful. Visuals? STUNNING. The aesthetics are on POINT. And I love the intro and outro paintings. Yang ZI is an amazing actress who had me bawling in ep 3. She never misses with her crying scenes and to those saying she looks out of place. They haven't watched the drama or know nothing about it. Seems like a bunch of haters rating it to me. YangZi's character is supposed to be a sick woman who is frail and not plump like the beauty standards of that period. Her looking tired suits her character since she is suffering in such a household. Do you expect her to look energetic and happy? Is this an idol drama for you? Some of these reviews don't make sense at all lmao, and it's very obvious that they are fake. Miles Wei impressed me with his acting in this drama playing a slightly antagonist role, and I now see him in a different light.

Fell asleep

The costumes in the drama are great, which is a positive aspect. However, for a drama to be considered truly good, the plot, story, and characters should also be equally compelling. Unfortunately, it seems that many costume dramas nowadays focus heavily on looking visually appealing, while the actual content feels superficial. At first, I barely recognized Yang Zi. She used to have a round face, but now her face appears slim and oval-shaped. I might have thought she was someone else entirely. She seems quite different from her earlier self. Additionally, the plot comes across as somewhat forced and unnatural. To establish the heroine's character, the story includes numerous contrived situations. While these early hardships are meant to showcase her strength and intelligence, they often feel like they are just there for show rather than being genuinely impactful.

My opiniion

Yeah I don't really like this genre of drama, although I like Yang Zi and Li Xian. But the previous drama was better, maybe I was also quite dependent on the make-up that was adapted to that era. But my yangzi is still beautiful, it just feels awkward. Miles' role is somehow more wow and makes you irritated .

So far I will still watch and see the development. Maybe in the future this drama will present something unexpected. For now I stop and save the episode first. For the rest I like especially the setting and editing I have no doubts about the background used in Chinese dramas. Very beautiful.

The drama "The Blooming Beauty" feels like a cure for insomnia

The drama "The Blooming Beauty" feels like a cure for insomnia. Its slow pacing, repetitive dialogue, and lack of engaging plot twists make it a tedious watch. Despite its lavish costumes and set designs, the story struggles to hold attention, leaving viewers yawning rather than captivated. Even the characters feel underdeveloped, making it hard to connect with their journeys. Overall, it's a visually appealing but emotionally hollow production that fails to deliver the excitement or depth one might expect. Also the overly smoothed skin of the actors, particularly the lead, Yang Zi, gave them an unnatural and plastic-like appearance.

Actors and actresses have done a very job Li Xian and Yang Zi showed great chemistry and their roles are different from what they have played previously And I enjoyed the show a lot because of them The husband and princess also did a very good jobs portraying the bad characters Not to forget the inlaws who make me go mad everytime when they do something to yang zi So i think everyone did a good job. At least for the first few episodes I cant wait for more!

The Script is not good.

The plot logic of this drama has several significant loopholes, and the portrayal of the heroine appears superficial. The "awakening" of He Weifang, the main character, should be a journey filled with wisdom and courage. However, in the show, this transformation is explained hastily through just a few slow-motion scenes and a handful of lines, creating a stark contrast with her previous experiences that feels uncomfortable and unconvincing.

Moreover, the conflicts and contradictions in the storyline are resolved in an overly simplistic and crude manner. The repeated scenes of abuse directed towards the heroine become monotonous and cause viewers to lose interest. Additionally, the emotional changes between the male and female protagonists lack sufficient foreshadowing, leaving the audience feeling caught off guard. These plot developments undoubtedly diminish the overall quality of the series and lead viewers to question the believability of the characters.

Rating: (10/10) A Masterpiece that Captivates the Heart and the Mind

Let Down

The character of He Weifang lacks depth. At times, she is portrayed as smart and witty, while at other moments, she acts recklessly and impulsively, causing her personality shifts to feel illogical. When faced with a crisis, her methods for solving problems are simplistic and crude, failing to portray her as a smart and resilient woman.

One star is given for the effort in the art, but there is nothing else to praise, particularly concerning Yang Zi's performance, which feels notably out of place. When the camera zooms in on her, her face appears unusually stiff, with prominent facial muscles that seem to pull uncomfortably as she expresses emotions. This is especially evident in the crying scene, which should be touching, but the stiffness makes it uncomfortable to watch.

The drama is lacking any distinctive traits that would make it memorable.

Great story, screen plays, makeup and performancea

The stories are based on Tang dynasty. The makeup and screenplays truly make efforts to recreate the theme of Tang dynasty.

Both leading actor and actress have great performances, can feel a good chemistry between them just like they did back "Go Go Squid!" Not sure why there are so many negative reviews against this tv series, in my opinion this is one of best tv series in recent years.

The storyline is more about ancient female how to fighting to unfairness culture which leading by men within her limit power. Leading actress definitely masterfully balances moments with intimate, heartfelt scenes. Can't wait to watch more episode.

Perfect Storyline and Great Performance by Yang Zi

I watched first 4 episodes and I feel like this drama is really good.

Yang Zi acting is perfect. Her eyes tell her feeling and her acting is so natural not over. That is really great. And Lighting is really perfect. Costumes are so beautiful. They don't used CGI for Peony Flower. Instead they just used real Peony flowers so I love it so much. All characters are nice. Just 4 episodes, this drama gives to feel me like fun, pleased, sad, and angry.

Lestly, I love this drama so much. It's really worth to watch.

Yang Zi never disappoint to audiences.

So if you watch this drama, you will regret.

The Drama Delivers

It's simple, a drama is good if iI want to keep watching it. It's steps up another notch when I eagerly wait and look forward to the next episode and this drama does that for me. The negative comments about the drama certainly don't sync with my interpretation and experience of it. It's a 10/10 in all areas for me. I love the story, visuals, acting, music.

I don't judge a drama on how pretty or handsome the actors are, but, rather, whether I want to continue to watch them because they make me believe and transport me into their world where I feel their emotions and applaud them and laugh with them. The acting does that. The story keeps me wanting to see what is going to happen next. The costumes and scenery feel authentic and real and I don't feel like I'm a third party watching from the outside. If you really don't like an actor then you will be negative from the very beginning and this attitude will cloud your judgment and enjoyment of a drama. It's simple - don't watch it, but, if you don't have any preconceived negative views then watch this excellent drama yourself and make your own mind up.

Doesn't Grab The Attention.

The genre of this drama is somewhat unclear. It is marketed as a formal costume drama, but the way some actors walk, stand, and pronounce their lines feels very modern. It resembles more of an idolized ancient setting. The beauty standards of the Tang Dynasty emphasized a plump body and a round face, but Yang Zi's appearance does not reflect this at all; it seems to stray from the original aesthetic. In certain scenes, Yang Zi's face looks sharper, giving off a dull impression that doesn't suit her character. Furthermore, Yang Zi tends to incorporate a bit of her own body language into her performance, which makes it hard to see the character she is portraying. I was pulled out of the drama by her acting. In contrast, Li Xian's acting is much more impressive compared to Yang Zi's.
