'The Giggle' should have been the Christmas episode

Two episodes in a row with a musical scene? Mistake. The new Doctor spinning around in a club showing a group of young people what&#39;s under his kilt? Mistake (and done by Homer Simpson years ago). Comical Goblins being the new Doctors first enemy? Mistake. The Giggle should have been the Christmas episode, this one wasn&#39;t strong enough to be the Christmas episode and not strong enough to be the new Doctors first episode. On the plus side the Doctor-Companion combination looks promising and the intriguing &#39;mavity&#39; storyline is still there in the background. Enough to keep me watching? Yes, but only just.

The Church on Ruby Road

What an absolute disappointment. It was fantastic to hear of RTD being involved in Dr Who again, but the changes he and I have to assume Disney have made to the show makes it clearly aimed at a particular minority of society rather than the majority of existing fans who just want great sci fi. It&#39;s almost like they want to destroy it before it&#39;s cancelled. The retcons of the last couple of series has made this Doctor, who many are calling number 14.5, as he seemed to just fall off David Tennant (the 14th Doctor), into an immortal flawless God, who can do anything, perform any feet of athletics or intelligence and can defeat armies of Goblins with a bit of a song and dance, it&#39;s more Muppet show than Dr Who. The new actor seemed to play the role very blankly, the blonde assistant however does look like she could make a good companion, but both have already said they are leaving the show after the 2014 season. Disney&#39;s involvement was said to have brought extra money for production, but to be honest, I couldn&#39;t tell any difference from the revival shots and monsters. As for the new sonic screwdriver, well it&#39;s clearly made from Mickey Mouse Technology.... If you have children, I would avoid this series and wait for a new Doctor Who. (The radio stuff by Big Finish is good, listen to them instead)

A lot of reviews of recent episodes have been clearly written by people more concerned about making sure their opinion about social norms is well-known than they are with watching a television show and having a good time. Who has always been campy, and recent episodes are no exception. It&#39;s wild to me how mad people are getting at this Monster of the Week episode! They were obviously playing on Christmas Elves and just having a bit of fun. It seems like the writers have watched a lot of Strange New Worlds and The Orville and have realized that they can actually just try something new instead of following the same tired old formula that&#39;s run out of variants. And in case anyone missed it, the current year is 2023, and Who has always kept up with the times. Those who are mad that trans people, gay people, or men in skirts exist can keep pretending like they&#39;re upset about something else, but we see right through you. Keep up or be left behind! I cannot wait for this next season to premiere next year.

Wow where do I start? The story lines get worse as they go on, maybe a time to either don&#39;t fix what isn&#39;t broke or let&#39;s end it there. The story is rubbish, very childish and not in the slightest epic. The new doctor is ok but has lost the mystery about him, the staple of all Doctor Whos. The wardrobe have totally got it wrong, he doesn&#39;t wear quirky which also is a trait of Doctor who. I think he would be great if BBC were more concerned about quality than ticking boxes and what special effects they can achieve. Don&#39;t even get me started on singing, yes, the doctor and assistant burst randomly into song!!??? It&#39;s incredibly cringe worthy! What an overall disappointment! What have they done to Doctor who!? Shameful!

This wasn&#39;t great. Both the Christmas Special and this episode of the &#39;Unleashed&#39; series. What was wrong with calling it &#39;Confidential&#39; again?? Just another attempt to push this whole new &#39;era&#39; of the show. Full of self-indulgance and self-importance, this programme really does make &#39;The Church on Ruby Road&#39; seem like the best thing since sliced bread, and that it touches on some ever so important issues. Everyone comes across as A) a bit smug and B) delusional once you consider the quality of this episode overall wasn&#39;t very good. It was a knock off &#39;Labyrinth&#39; basically that doesn&#39;t hold up to much scrutiny.
