Creative, Brave & Funny - 9 of 10
I think Adam Sandler nailed it and created something totally unique that he can be incredibly proud of -and which deserves critical praise. It was comedy AND it was entertainment, it was different & creative, it was old Sandler, Dad Sandler, Husband Sandler and aging Gen X Sandler. I laughed and I cried. The audience was great and you could feel the intimacy of the space through the screen. The "guest appearance" was perfection and the timing was masterful when in its wake Sandler took viewers from a joyful high and funneled that energy into to a beautifully emotional close. I was impressed with his singing, musical ability and fresh take on new material that remained true to the oddly awesome Sandler we fell for in the 90's. I think it was a master class and quite impressive by any standard but especially so following a long hiatus. It was brave.
