It shows Yoda's weaknesses and strengths all at once. Wholly newfound respect for his character after many seasons of the same old Yoda's.
P.S. No character has seen more, been to more places and accompanied and helped more characters than R2D2. He IS Star Wars. He holds every story, big and small. Knows planets and secrets and corners of the galaxy like no one else. Crazy to think that Vader was so close with him. As close as Luke or Leia. Trusted by Yoda. Ashoka.
Tim Curry took over the role of Palpatine/Sidious for this season and did a superb job. His performance here in particular shines and his mellifluous, malevolent tones add huge quality to the scenes.
Yoda as a character is given a real chance to be explored depply and it strengthens what a great character he is. It also gives meaning to some of his apparent failures.
A tremendous episode.
My rating: 10/10.

- TriviaDarth Bane is voiced by Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy and in the sequel trilogy. Hamill had expressed interest in working on the show before, but Dave Filoni felt he could only use him if the role was worthy enough. This part fit the bill, as Darth Bane was the creator of the Sith Rule of Two and Luke Skywalker the one who brought the last Sith back to the light.
- Quotes
Mace Windu: The council has assembled. They are eager to hear your report.
Yoda: Afraid, not much there is to say, about my journey.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: So, nothing significant happened to you out there?
Yoda: Yes, and no. To the end, we are coming now.
Mace Windu: Did your journey give you insight on how to win the war?
Yoda: No longer certain, that one ever does win a war, I am. For in fighting the battles, the bloodshed, already lost we have. Yet, open to us a path remains. That unknown to the Sith is. Through this path, victory we may yet find. Not victory in the Clone Wars, but victory for all time.
