It's about time a movie is made with decent leading men who have integrity! This movie showed reality and implies situations without dragging the viewer into the gutter! High caliber actors and great script writing only need to imply without showing nudity, sex scenes or bad language. Once upon a time, there were scripts and actors that only revealed emotions, drama, comedy etc...captivating their audience. This movie was one of those that had "quality acting" without all the usual crutches covering up poorly utilized skills.
This movie left me uplifted, wanting to know more about the true story. I just loved seeing good men of character, being kind to hurting children, being gentlemen to women, achieving their dreams and overcoming their internal struggles. I also loved seeing a difficult woman, honestly facing herself, being vulnerable and getting to understand her perspective.
I wanted to see more from this amazing script writer and more of Barry Van Dyke! He's a compelling, sensitive, dynamic actor! I was trying to find out more about the man behind this true story but not enough was written about his life to be found. I think social media failed to give the audience more details and promote it as a worthwhile watch.

I stumbled upon this film and ended up watching the whole thing. Was not as bad (cheesy) as i thought it wouod be and I think this was mostly due to Barry Van Dyke's natural acting and responses (script). The Caterina character was a little overacted and unnecessary ott anger (unexplained until the end). My big gripe with it would be B Van D's awful dyed hair, eyebrows and pancake makeup - not his doing surely. The child actor was not strong. This movie seems to be comprised of siblings and offspring of well-known people. The title is overwrought and implies bigger things than it delivers. Funny off-piste comments on YT about how very important it is to clean a new residence when you move in - that scene obviously resonated with people...And - did the star-struck cable guy ever connect Edward up to the service ?
I was pleasantly surprised by The Untold Story. Stumbled on it and didn't really expect much initially but was drawn into the story of an older man who hit hard times but remained kind while looking for a way to dig himself out of that hole. Is this Oscar material? Of course not but I have seen much worse. The acting is good and the script and direction okay.
No extra bells or whistles. Just good storytelling and a great believable cast. Heartwarming and uplifting. Mr. Barry Van Dyke was relaxed and natural and Nia Peeples is such a beautiful talented lady. LOVED seeing Grizzly Adams (Dan Haggerty)!! Had a hard time figuring out who the car salesman was (Dr. Quinn's Sully). And the friend of the guy with the parrot on his shoulder (child star Robbie Rist). I do not remember seeing Ellen Greene (Lydia) before, but she did great too! The only one that I felt was a bit forced was Jordan Ladd, his 'friend.'
Thanks to the writers, directors, and producers for making this film. Refreshing so see a movie so 'normal' and wholesome.

I really can't fathom why this movie was made as it is pure drivel. Someone has obviously been skewing the ratings here on IMDB because no one in their right mind would give this an acceptable rating. I think the effort was there to make this film good but it was a failed attempt. I feel bad for the people involved because the result was such a failure. It came across as a very bad made for TV movie. The acting was mostly very bad, almost like amateur and people just reading their lines in a canned manner. The script was lame to the point of moronic. Given some time I am sure the IMDB score will plummet as more real people vote in. The only redeeming quality I could see in the movie is a feel-good vibe that arises from a down-on-his-luck actor who remains a kind person despite his personal setbacks. But this message is just not enough to justify the movie.
