I just started watching this series and have loved it. But I found this particular episode very hard to watch. The actors did an amazing job but I didn't need to see the graphic sex scenes in the prison to appreciate what Jamie was going through. Sometimes less is more, especially in this case. It seemed to me that those who wrote and produced these explicit scenes were looking to tantalize the audience, which to me is the wrong emotion to elicit.

Sam should win a special prize for his performance, it felt so realistic.
As far as I'm concerned, this final episode was the best one, it was so deep, intense and altogether heartbreaking, but it's worthy: it leaves you something much more different than the other TV series' trivial end. Sad and dark of course, but still with a sense of warmness for the love which Jamie proves for Claire, protecting her, despite what happens to him. It is nothing excessive or dreadful, utterly bearable because each scene conveys the pain that Jamie is going through. Touching, unique. My best compliments: it couldn't have been any better. Outlander deserves much more fame and attention. Brilliant.
I'm looking forward reading the books.

The reviewer that called this pornography has obviously not watched all of season 1. While this episode was very hard to watch, one cannot help but appreciate the talent of the actors.
Blown away by the performances of this episode. Scary, brutal and amazing episode.

- TriviaThe prison scenes were filmed in order, with only Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies on set. Both cast and crew described the shoot as 'exhausting', emotionally draining, and 'very hard to watch'.
- GoofsOver the course of several scenes, Jamie's injured hand goes from severely mangled to merely covered with blood and back again. This is likely the result of the scene using several prosthetic hands as well as Sam Heughan's own hand covered in make-up and fake blood.
