    Hilarious!

From the trailer it seemed like this one's gonna be a hit n a miss. I said to myself "Our guys trying to pull of a Hera Pheri or a Delhi Belly..heck.. I want to check it out on Eid"

As opposed to O21 which appeared another one of those covert op films(which I am definitely going to see later) did not appeal me.. I am glad I chose Na Maloom Afraad. It is not just the title but it is the crux of the film around which it revolves throughout. People thinking of it as Hera Pheri or Delhi Belly(myself included initially) are correct about three individuals stricken with financial crises but that is where the similarities end.

Director Nabeel Qureshi is the kind of the guy who knows what he's doing. If you have seen his short films starring the BNN guys or previously the 4 Man team, u know what I'm talking about. If u find them funny u have seen nothing yet. NMA will make u burst with laughs and mind you there's no stopping them.

Mohsan Abbas Haider is the real star here.. he steals every scene he's in (remember that guy playing Bhagat Sing who used to roam around the Republic in a yellow van). Fahad Mustafa's comic timing is perfect as well whilst Javed Shaikh is the veteran here but I find nothing exceptional about his character, & that's just me..

Salman Shahid reprises his role as the bad guy from the movie Ishqiya. Mehwish Hayat is ur Mahnoor Baloch in NMA and her smoking item no., though out of place, is a feast for eyes. All in all NMA delivers what it promises without a single dull moment in its entire run time.

On the technical side, the film is one to marvel at. From the production value to the film's music to its shots of Karachi are all well handled. The end is passable and possibly the only flaw if felt in the movie which restricts me from rating it a 10 on 10. Btw I am being fair when I rate it a 9.

So.. watch this one, particularly Karachiites as they could relate more with this city's violent history and lawlessness that has engulfed its inhabitants.. Oh and having said dat keep an eye out for the interesting cameos from some of the familiar faces of TV. Hum Network.. hats off for this entertainer!!

three poor and desperate men try to chase their hopes and dreams through a turn of humorous events amidst the bustle and grime of Karachi's underbelly

Went to the cinema today after quite a few days of the film's release with a lot of expectations... and got just that. Brilliantly made, fast paced, great story line, some masala (such as the item number "Billi" ) without ever compromising the quality of the film. And lots of humour. Kept me entertained throughout. Some brilliant work from our Pakistani artists. Javed Shaikh was completely convincing as the stuttering landlord and with many surprising qualities to his personality (as you shall discover towards the end of the film). Fahad Mustafa has come a long way since his initial drama days with brilliant acting. the film makers have done a fantastic job. For long i had been hoping to see a light-note pakistani film. Na maloom afraad gave me just that along with its true-to-life gory and grimy depictions of Karachi's underbelly. Hope to see more stuff from the "filmwalas". Would recommend it fully. *thumbs up*

    How can it be 9?

Where on earth does a bank locker open with one key only? Why were the guys refused insurance claim? Why do we have to copy Indian movie ideas to fit humor on our current situation? It didn't even fit! How come censor board approved the obscene scenes/ dialogues in it? the title was very different from what they wanted to show. Only arsonists are namaloom ifraad? The title of the movie was just a faint shadow of what the movie should have been. after watching it, I strongly felt it didn't suit the story line at all. Terrible lack of intellectual humor. Even local TV short films far exceed in humor content and humorous criticism than the third class humor in this movie. There were so many useless characters in it. What the heck was 'billi' all about? This movie was only successful in copying Indian movie ideas. Why not copy the title too? The slight effort of connecting plight with reasonable/ required cheating was also a healthy balance.

    Pakistan's very own cult comedy!!

First off, I want to say that I didn't have many expectations from NMA considering that it was a film by newbies but 10 minutes into the movie I was awe-struck with the fluidity of it all. Barring the final few minutes, NMA is exceptional.

Many people say that it is 'copied off' of other flicks like Hera Pheri and Delhi Belly. Yes, it borrows some elements from these films but that doesn't make it a copy but rather an inspired venture.

The best thing about this movie is the cinematography. It is brilliant. The camera angles used throughout flick add another dimension to the film. May it be fixed on a box of gulab jamuns or the corner of a rickshaw; the DoPs of NMA have done an exceptional job in making it a visual treat.

Acting-wise I would say that everyone played their roles to perfection apart from Urwa and Kubra. Their characters, specifically Kubra's bank manager avatar, were a tad too weakly acted for the script.

And Billi, how can I miss her? Her sultry item song was a cherry-topping for the movie. I have seen many item songs from across the border and I can safely say that Mehwish Hayat's Billi trumps them all. It is simplistic and yet very, very catchy.

My only complaint with this movie is the ending. In my opinion it should have ended 4-5 minutes before rather than being dragged out like that. It was sort of an anti-climax and looks obtrusively forced.

Conclusively, an awesome film that is well worth the time for the laughs it produces. However, on a note of caution (considering our non-existent rating system), it is strictly not a family-friendly film as some jokes/scenes are quite lurid!

    Shock Rock Knock Bang!!!!

A Roller Coaster ride starts with a BANG and ends with a BANG!!!!!! This is my opinion as a movie goer after watching Na maloom afraad. Just like a perfect cup of tea needs a right combo of ingredients same is the case with NMA. After watching Operation021 and Nma one thing is obvious that Pakistani cinema has shocked rocked and KNOCKED everyone with a devastating blow of TONS of entertainment which stands away away away above high than any bollywood movie ever made in the entire history of copy cat film industry called Bollywood. Coming towards NMA , the film is about 3 guys, who faces financial issues in their life and try to come out of their financial issues after making numbers of plan. The issue is every plan they make eventually fails, just like Qismat ka jahil. Direction, well while watching movie you will not feel that this movie is made by anyone new kid on the block. No doubt direction is very fine. Acting well apart of Fahd Mustafa and Javed sheikh , the new kid will shock you, just like is Mazaaq Raat, the DJ shows his talent, this movie truly reflects the artistic value of Mohsin Abbas Haider. Apart of direction the music will also give you a surprise. Apart of being lyrical, melodious the shooting of these tracks makes them a treat to watch as well on big screen. As a comedy movie, the movie goer sometimes feel that movie may not have a powerful story but this is not the case in NMA. Veteran Actor Salaman Shahid has also done a very fine role even though this is same role he played in Ishqia 1.5. Funny lines are trademarks of any funny movie, this is where NMA will blow you away. Some are simple some are vulgar some are classical. The females also did a fine job keeping in view they had a limited presence on screen apart of Naina's role. So get ready for a roller coaster ride of comedy, Thumkas, Jhatkas, Dialogues and reality with a bang!!!!!!!
