three poor and desperate men try to chase their hopes and dreams through a turn of humorous events amidst the bustle and grime of Karachi's underbelly
Went to the cinema today after quite a few days of the film's release with a lot of expectations... and got just that. Brilliantly made, fast paced, great story line, some masala (such as the item number "Billi" ) without ever compromising the quality of the film. And lots of humour. Kept me entertained throughout. Some brilliant work from our Pakistani artists. Javed Shaikh was completely convincing as the stuttering landlord and with many surprising qualities to his personality (as you shall discover towards the end of the film). Fahad Mustafa has come a long way since his initial drama days with brilliant acting. the film makers have done a fantastic job. For long i had been hoping to see a light-note pakistani film. Na maloom afraad gave me just that along with its true-to-life gory and grimy depictions of Karachi's underbelly. Hope to see more stuff from the "filmwalas". Would recommend it fully. *thumbs up*
It's a good movie but not a family one.
Na Maloom Afraad is a movie based on current situation of Pakistan including terrorism, unemployment, financial situations of the people etc. Javed Sheikh, Fahad Mustafa and Salman Shahid as Shakeel Bhai, Farhan and Gogi are simply brilliant in their roles. Salman Shahid has got a relative small duration but he is just outstanding as always. Mohsan Abbas Haider as Moon is too much loud and he slips a lot throughout the movie. Urwa as Naina got very less screen space so it is difficult to judge her acting skills on a large screen. Direction has many lapses throughout the movie but the director is successful in creating a good movie as his first project. The climax is good but there are many question left behind in the viewer's mind. Music is good and Mehwish Hayat, doing an item number, is just stunning and she holds the song with grace. I will like to go with 8 out of 10 rating because it is a tight budget movie and is much better than the movie made in our neighbor country. It is a fun watching a Pakistani movie with new faces on large screen. I hope that Pakistani cinema will flourish with this movie.
How can it be 9?
Where on earth does a bank locker open with one key only? Why were the guys refused insurance claim? Why do we have to copy Indian movie ideas to fit humor on our current situation? It didn't even fit! How come censor board approved the obscene scenes/ dialogues in it? the title was very different from what they wanted to show. Only arsonists are namaloom ifraad? The title of the movie was just a faint shadow of what the movie should have been. after watching it, I strongly felt it didn't suit the story line at all. Terrible lack of intellectual humor. Even local TV short films far exceed in humor content and humorous criticism than the third class humor in this movie. There were so many useless characters in it. What the heck was 'billi' all about? This movie was only successful in copying Indian movie ideas. Why not copy the title too? The slight effort of connecting plight with reasonable/ required cheating was also a healthy balance.
Pakistan's very own cult comedy!!
First off, I want to say that I didn't have many expectations from NMA considering that it was a film by newbies but 10 minutes into the movie I was awe-struck with the fluidity of it all. Barring the final few minutes, NMA is exceptional.
Many people say that it is 'copied off' of other flicks like Hera Pheri and Delhi Belly. Yes, it borrows some elements from these films but that doesn't make it a copy but rather an inspired venture.
The best thing about this movie is the cinematography. It is brilliant. The camera angles used throughout flick add another dimension to the film. May it be fixed on a box of gulab jamuns or the corner of a rickshaw; the DoPs of NMA have done an exceptional job in making it a visual treat.
Acting-wise I would say that everyone played their roles to perfection apart from Urwa and Kubra. Their characters, specifically Kubra's bank manager avatar, were a tad too weakly acted for the script.
And Billi, how can I miss her? Her sultry item song was a cherry-topping for the movie. I have seen many item songs from across the border and I can safely say that Mehwish Hayat's Billi trumps them all. It is simplistic and yet very, very catchy.
My only complaint with this movie is the ending. In my opinion it should have ended 4-5 minutes before rather than being dragged out like that. It was sort of an anti-climax and looks obtrusively forced.
Conclusively, an awesome film that is well worth the time for the laughs it produces. However, on a note of caution (considering our non-existent rating system), it is strictly not a family-friendly film as some jokes/scenes are quite lurid!

Pakistans lame attempt to copy Hera Pheri
No words. I mean beyond idiotic. I know these people steal and copy western scripts but this is overwhelmingly obvious Here in this movie. Everything is predictable. They try to make a masterpiece plan which only becomes more confusing and more idiotic. I really don't know rust going on. Even s comedy movie has its base on something tangible something real but nope not here. I challenge any non pakistani cinema affecianado o watch this crap and tell me it aint bad. It looks bad for the entire country if they are celebrating this garbage as a comedy hit. Talk about low standards and getting lucky.
