Filler episode

Lots of people hate on this movie, is it all justified or is there some unfair judgment. First problem is that a good part of the film is only scenes from second season. I understand it's good to put a few reminders of previous events, but making it good half of the movie is really too much. Another issue this film is facing is too many fighting scenes. This is an action anime, but its good to show some bonding time between characters. If they took a break and made characters interact more it would make this piece a lot better. Lots of people say animation is lazy which I can't agree with. Animation is not as good as usual, that Il admit, but it's still very good. To summarise my opinion jjk can do a lot better. We saw their amazing stories, characterisation, music and animation. That's why this is a disappointment. They can do a lot better. If it was a usually worser anime I would be pleased.

I couldn't believe it.

I've never written a review before in this website, so do forgive me but:

I don't think I've ever seen anything as arrogant as this. They managed to squeeze around 35 mins of recaps into a movie shown in theaters.

What an absolutely disappointing realization, everyone just sat through the first half of the movie joking and taking pictures. There was nothing to watch, nothing worthwhile talking about.

I don't like this method of storytelling, I hope it dies with this movie and it doesn't become a trend. It just made the second half much less enjoyable.

What an incredible waste of time.

Cashgrab

Don't bother watching it in the cinema. A complete waste of money and time. Nearly half the runtime is recycled summaries from the previous season, new content was very good the fights look cool, the characters are nice and it aligns perfectly with the known story, but short lived, shouldn't have been a full movie, not enough content.

This is not a movie

The first 38 minutes of the movie is season 2 recap. I'm a JJK big fan and the movie horrible. There's literally no fight between Yuta and Yuji. All the scenes were just back and forth. The movie is just an introduction to season 3. Doesn't deserve to be in the cinema. Just a waste of time and money.

90 minute trailer to the new season

40 min recap 30 min catchup 10 min action 10 min credits.

This movie was the biggest middlefinger to anime community who pay dearly for an big screen anime movie, most people in the audience couldnt believe the movie had ended because it felt so wrong.

We had seen this before with reincarnated as a slime &

Meh

30 min of recap Season 2, seriously ? Come one man, i am fan of JJK why you put in cinema ? I meant we can see it in series too, in Cinema you have to put some epic scene that you never seen in series, we dont need that recap or filler on CINEMA, put that shet away on series you have to be careful with that.

I dont realy understand.

It was never a secret that the beginning of the movie would be a recap of the end of season two, so I don't really understand why people go in knowing this, then come out disappointed and use that as the movie's biggest flaw. I also think it's a cheap solution, but since the end of season two was basically botched visually, at least we got an updated version enhanced with a few extra scenes that we didn't get in the anime. The music also added an extra layer of atmosphere to the events.

My only negative opinion is that, even with all that, the movie was short (though extremely dense, almost packed to the brim). I liked it, it was worth seeing in the cinema, and it gave me plenty of motivation to look forward to the third season of the anime.

Only watch if you've seen Season 2

If you've only watched Jujutsu Kaisen up to the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc, then I would highly recommend watching the whole Shibuya Incident arc before thinking about seeing Execution, as the 40 minutes dedicated to Shibuya don't do it justice at all. You get the key highlights and the need to know info, plus Sukuna's fight is the improved Blu-ray version and not what aired on TV, but a lot of the context is lost, and it will confuse new viewers.

Despite Season 3 being known as the Culling Game Arc, we don't see any of it - the first two episodes cover the Itadori's Extermination Arc and the start of the Perfect Preparation Arc. The fight scenes in these episodes are really good, and there's just enough to tease you with for the rest of the season.

Of course it's not going to live up to Infinity Castle or Reze, as it's just a compilation rather than an actual movie, but after over two years away, it's good to have JJK back. Roll on January 2026!

The Jujutsu Kaisen movie honestly kinda let me down. I went in hyped, expecting a proper movie with a full new story and big moments, but it mostly felt like stuff I've already seen before, just stretched out.

I get that a little recap is normal to set things up, but here it felt like a huge chunk of the movie was just repeating or dragging things out. While I was watching I was literally thinking, "Why did I pay for this? This could've just been a special episode or something on a streaming site."

The part that actually feels new is like 40 minutes tops, and the rest is just build-up that doesn't really add much. So instead of feeling like a full-on movie, it comes off more like a long episode they tried to sell as a film. And when you've paid around 40 riyals for a ticket, that really stings.

Yeah, the animation is nice, the fights look good, and there are a few cool moments here and there. I'm not saying it's complete trash or anything. But when you walk out, you don't really feel like you got anything special out of it story-wise or character-wise. Nothing that makes you go, "Wow, I really needed to see that."

If a friend asked me, I'd say: if you're a hardcore Jujutsu Kaisen fan and just wanna watch anything related to it, sure, go ahead. But if you're expecting a real, full movie experience that's worth the ticket price? Nah, it's not worth it. This should've been released as a special episode instead of being pushed as a big standalone movie.

Very bad

Don't go to watch it, it's a waste of money and time. Very disappointed.

From beginning to the end, no highlights at all.

The overall production quality felt sloppy from rushed editing to uninspired visuals. It's a 100% a poorly made money-grab movie.

Overall, it failed to deliver anything memorable or meaningful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Don't expect new content.

As the title of the movie suggests, it is the Shibuya Incident x The Culling Game Begins highlights.

The first 45 minutes of the movie is highlights of some of the fight scenes from season 2 and the last 30 or so minutes is from the culling game (which is a special episode that released recently).

Unless you want to see the highlights on the big screen, I wouldn't recommend it especially considering the best fights of the season isn't shown in the movie. Had I known this going in, I wouldn't have gone to the cinema to watch it.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

There was no point to watch this in movies as this is just the ending of Shibuya arc and beginning of the game arc. It's good Jujitsu Kaisen content but it's just a few anime episodes that are in between arcs and where much doesn't happen. It makes absolutely no sense to have a movie or a cinema release for this content. Really the greatest disappointment I've ever had in going to the cinemas. Even animation quality is nothing special. It's literally just 4 normal anime episodes stuck together and called a movie for some reason.

Most is recap + teasing new season

The animation and such is amazing as always, but the first half or even more is the Shibuya arc summarized and the action if just few minutes.

Kinda felt ripped of for going to the cinema in Japan for this. Wate of time compared to just watch it at home in some months.

There is no point to go to the cinema for it. The fights look cool, the characters are nice and it alings perfectly with the known story. So i am looking forward to next season, but it seems like it will just ve the first episodes of the next season to be honest.

Don't bother watching it in the cinema

I just watched this in the cinema today, so my advice is: Don't bother watching it in the cinema. A complete waste of money and time. Nearly half the runtime is recycled summaries from the previous season, and the editing is lazy and sloppy. It was rushed and made with greed for money, so the quality is bad.

Save yourself the trip/$

When the best and worst part of the movie is the 40-minutes of recap filler, it's best to skip.

It was enjoyable seeing some of the previous animation on the big screen, but the animation quality isn't there to justify a theater release. At the same time, for anyone who has never watched the series, the recap is incredibly fast and confusing and tells no backstory to involve anyone who wanted to get interested in the series. I could barely follow the constant scene skips and I just finished the entire series last week.

It's not a standalone movie to enjoy from start to finish.

The second half has little to be desired with several cheap budget scenes of dialogue while mouth is covered to save on animation. The couple fights were fun to watch, but again, didn't hit quite right.

TL;DR: Demon Slayer:Infinity Castle ruined all future anime movie theater releases and set the bar too high.

DO NOT WATCH THIS IN CINEMA

I love Jujutsu Kaisen, the previous movie was really good so I was excited to see this one, however I was dissapointed. Around half of the movie is a recap. When the new content finally started, they gave us recaps a few more times (in case we haven't seen enough!), it is so lazy! When I started enojoying what I see, it was already the end...

The animation itself was also low quality compared to the previous movie (except for a few scenes). If I had to describe the movie in one word it would be laziness.

Please please please do not watch it in the cinema nor on any streaming platforms, find another way to see this. The production company does not deserve to make any profits of this, it has to be a financial flop, so that it doesn't set the trend of making half of your movie a recap just to save money on production.

I hope that at least the people working on the creation of this movie got paid well!

A recap and two very fast-paced chapters; once again, this format fails to convince...

In this trend of anime series trying to cash in with a recap plus a couple of episodes of a new season, this time it's Jurassic Park's turn.

When you go to see these recaps in theaters, you wonder what kind of product you're going to find; after all, it's not a movie per se.

We've had bad ones like "Dan Da Dan" and "KNIGHT 6," but also some good ones like "Solo Leveling." I consider Jurassic Park to be somewhere in between.

We know that season 2, despite its problems with the animators and MAPPA, was amazing and established the "Shibuya Incident" arc as one of the most immense ever seen in anime. However, during this recap, I feel it doesn't do it justice. I also didn't notice the much-talked-about improvement in the fight between Sukuna and Mahoraga, but above all, it's very fast-paced, and while that doesn't bother me, it persists throughout the entire "movie."

The first two episodes of season 3 are very well animated, featuring some impressive fight sequences, but they also have quite a few flaws. Again, it feels rushed, with no time to explain things like what these blessed games they're about to enter are or why some characters survived the Shibuya incident. I feel like a lot of situations and concepts are taken for granted, which doesn't contribute to the dynamics or the evolution of the story.

I'm afraid that the entire season, which will have half the number of episodes of the previous two, will be like this: rushed and lacking explanations. If this happens, it would be a shame, since JJK has established itself as one of the most important shonen anime of the decade, and its quality has always been top-notch.

First two episodes review

Since this film is a compilation of Shibuya Incident and Season 3 early episode view, I will give two reviews.

Shibuya Incident: This arc on this compilation mainly focus on Satoru Gojo got sealed in prison realm following with some of the battle cuts and most of the characters death moment. So this isn't the biggest highlight as we already watch this back in 2023.

First two episodes on Culling Game arc: This is the main highlight. I love the improvement on animation this time as Naoya Zenin was introduced in early on. His actions was the main spotlight of the first two episode with his battle with Choso using different cut. Color grading for the first two episodes is a wonderful grading as different theme becomes spotlight for the specific timing such as tunnel battle when both Choso and Naoya unleash their cursed spirit. The emotional and laughing moments from these episodes also on the best moment. Definitely can't wait for the future episodes.

Execution Sped Up Version

I've seen many reviews which gives to the movie positive feedback, probably some employers.

1. No new animation, 40 min recap? As a video editor, I don't really think the scenes were very important for recap. Slowly cutted scenes and again, you can't truly understand most of it. (Scene from Yuki asking Kenjaku for the girls type) HORRIBLE

2. The incoming event, how they believe people will really enjoy the arc about 30min equal to 1 episode and half. We truly understand what we came for "The Execution", but it felt just stupid to cut half of the action. (The fan animation was very close to it)

3. Final "Culling Games" income. People of course are so excited for it. But, 10 min for all cost of the movie which is 88min. Absolutely ridiculous. Big JJK fan since the beginning of it, but (Gege) he's merely out of ideas about it. Absolute disaster compare to Demon Slayer movie.

Better be prepared for the disappointment than expecting something.

I cant wait for the next episode

So as you can see from other people who have given a review that yes there is a recap of the shibuya arc, but who cares you literally get to watch the best parts over again on the big screen and the new episode is literally mind blowing. The animation was superb and even better then I had previously thought it would be. I watched in pure awe as I saw the end of volume 16 brought to life in front me.better then both demon slayer and the new chainsaw man. Jujutsu kaisen is both my favorite anime and manga so keep that in mind. If you have read vol 16 and 17 of the manga you get a taste of what's in store for you with "execution" and how the culling games arc is truly the best arc in the manga. If you love jujutsu kaisen it's a must watch, not just because the animation is amazing, but the story and the characters we have only seen on our Tv's up until now are on the big screen and getting to rewatch the best parts of the shibuya arc on that screen was worth the ticket price and more, okutsu's entrance alone gave me goosebumps better then I imagined when I first read the manga. No spoilers here.

Good movie bad format

There is nothing necessarily wrong with the movie, except for the fact that the first half is the finale of season two And the rest of the movie is the first couple of episodes of the next season Animation and fight scenes and action scenes were great Music sound effects were also good But just the fact that they are reusing parts of the previous episodes of the show and filling the majority of the movie is just meh.

Delivered Exactly What It Promised

In this Jujutsu Kaisen movie, we get a recap of the key events from the latest season of the anime, along with an introduction to the first episodes of the upcoming season. It works as a way to refresh your memory, understand what happened immediately after the Shibuya incidents and get ready for what's coming next in Jujutsu Kaisen. If you're expecting a movie with a full, closed ending - which was the biggest complaint I heard during the screening - then don't go to the theater expecting that!
