A lot of people that are hating on this movie ,I'm thinking they don't have the perspective to love it
I'm part of the younger generation and I made an account to just say that this movie is really good ,the humor is more of awkward humor and has some really good moments and I really loved the cameos and as someone who is aspiring to make it one day in hip-hop I like how there's a message of not giving up and the ending put a smile on my face and gave me abit more hope and motivation
I mean, great faces: wiz, khaled and all the others. Light story, good actors, jokes that try to be smart, but end up being nothing great, but you know i liked it, you can enjoy it without too much expectations.
I was so hesitant at first ,, so the trailer , i thought it would be like a cheap sleazy style of some rappers, but i was so wrong, and boy! glad i watched.
The plot is so tight and the script is quick and unexpectedly really funny ,, and in a weird messed up way it tells a nice story about that boy who wants to make it into the hip hop game being managed by his school friend.
the cast did an amazing job,, literally everyone,, the two leads ,KYLE who's a very good rapper in real life and that boy Harrison Holzer, he's really funny. wished to see more of Andy Buckley's comedy ,, he would have been a nice addition if he had more lines.
final thought, I usually don't like these type of movies, like Music comedy but here there was literally just two times where there is "music" and the rest was a nice drama comedy movie ... so recommended , go watch it .

Jeff (Harrison Holzer) is driven to get his childhood friend rapper Owen (Kyle) a record deal. Owen's father Sgt. Martin Ellison (Blair Underwood) is sending him off to the Marines. Jeff is on the clock and he's willing to use everything including his older sister Alicia (Shelley Hennig). Owen has had a lifelong crush on her.
I like Owen. I do not like Jeff. Everybody's right about Jeff. He is too much and he's annoying. I would like him more if this record deal is not just about his daddy issues. He should be doing this to repay Owen for something in their childhood. The boys need their own meet-cute scene. Also, Alicia needs to be a part of the group for the entire night. That would have watered down Jeff which helps. In addition, I like Shelley Hennig. She has a lot of different tools in her toolbox. Mostly, they need to dial Jeff back a couple of notches.
