The sheer ineptitude of all the US military, CIA and embassy staff make this episode (and more broadly season) a fairly painful watch, this show has always required some suspension of disbelief but this is a bridge too far, feels like a poor man's 24.

Yup....it is.This episode is right there with all the biggies such as Ozymandius(Breaking bad) or rains of castemere(Game of thrones) or gateway(Dexter) or through the looking glass(Lost)...."13 hours to islamabad " is that good. Make no mistake....the entire season 4 is great and I thought nothing could top season one finale "Marine one" or last episode "There's something else going on" but I was so wrong. The episode started with a bang and ended with a tormenting cliffhanger that will haunt us for one more week. This episode was brutal, shocking, tensed, gritty, emotional, edge of the seat experience....I have felt such tension very few times while watching a TV series. The best thing about Homeland is it throws us right into this realistic, hyper tensed war zones and then pull back us and show us the after math.....this requires skill and This 42 min Embassy hostage drama in the most dangerous, hostile country in the world proved how much talented the entire Homeland team is! Who says only Carrie Mathison(Claire danes) can carry Homeland? We got superlative performance from everyone but this episode belongs to Rupert Friend....he was underused for so long time but he shined in this episode;I heard he will star in next Hit-man movie....well,he deserved it.. The direction, the music, the action....every bit was top notch.I would be surprised if this episode along with Director Daniel Attias didn't get golden globe/Emmy awards for this mind-blowing episode.
This is not just the beast season of homeland but it is one of the best TV seasons ever made....just watch this epic episode!
My rating 10/10.

Lockhart gives up the 'super secret' list of assets, and Carrie gets fired. Oooo-kayyy! Then again, isn't that the way the government usually does things? Ignore the acts of the guilty, fire the innocent and praise the non-combatants.
This whole series has been one of highly improbable incidents that neither make sense or would conceivably happen in real life. But it has been an excellent suspense series worth watching.

My least favorite episode of the season four's second half is "13 Hours in Islamabad". "13 Hours" was everything everyone complained about in the, what I found to be effective, last two minutes of "There's Something Else Going On". The directing holds the level of suspense so high that it generally succeeds, but the episode is all kinds of tacky and silly. You have to suspend disbelief to an extent when coming to "Homeland", but there was something phony about the beginning events of "13 Hours" that ejected me from the story completely. It's easier to believe Carrie kidnapped by Abu Nazir at the end of season 2 and watch her, Carrie Mathison, literally kill him in a chase scene than it was to buy what the writers tried to pull with the terrorist attack. The second half of the episode was slower and set up episode 11 well, but it still stunk with its impractical ignorance.

The episode will make u feel distorted. How csn thst possibly happen between to countries and still no war breaks out. The whole embassy of US is gone and still no action. Good guys seem to save collateral damage and bad guys dont even care.

- Quotes
Max: You were mean. All she wanted was your approval, and all you gave her was a hard time.
Carrie Mathison: I was training her, Max.
Max: You could've said something nice. Just once. Would've meant so much.
Carrie Mathison: I wish I had.
