    Gerry Standing's 2-part send off

As with oldtimers Brian and Sam, Gerry Standing's final farewell gets a multi-episode build-up. The script and directing is among the top five best episodes, as it gracefully slides from PG to a mild R. Gerry's character is given real gravitas, and Waterman brings real charisma to it. The exciting two-part send off for Gerry, and the pathos-laden farewells to Brian and Sam in earlier seasons really shine a light on the departure of Sandra (Amanda Redmond). No build up, no farewell; simply, next episode, she's gone, in the middle of the season. Shoddy treatment for a smart, strong, gorgeous character who anchored the show and was sexy without being objectified like Tamsyn Outhwaite, running down cobblestone streets in high heels. But this episode is Waterman's moment and it's grand.

    One of the best episode

Without doubt this is one of the best episode (with part I). These New Tricks series are one of the best I've seen. These episodes brings them back to the 80's. Briljant story line and acting. I've seen these 3 times now. Gerry is the key role in this part. Corruption goes a long way and trust is never to found

Final episode for Gerry, and it's terrific.

Gerry refuses to go into detail about The Chapmans, Strickland takes a personal lead on the case, but time is limited as The MIT case are due to take over.

Gerry deserved to go out with a bang, and fair play, Waterman was given an outstanding episode to bow out with, and credit to him, it's perhaps the best of Gerry Standing.

When I think of the later episodes, it's fair to say they've been a mixed bag, this rates as not just one of the best of the later series, but one of the best overall, exceptional in every department, the two episode format allowed the story and characters to develop, and that they did incredibly well.

Terrific acting, everyone played their part, but it very much was Dennis Waterman's episode.

I'm not sure what to expect from here on in, with Gerry gone it means that apart from Strickland, no original cast members remain.

They call me The Gardener, I did laugh at that sequence.

One of the show's standout episodes, 10/10.

    • Trivia
This was Dennis Waterman's last episode with the series. He was replaced by actor/comedian Larry Lamb as retired detective Ted Case.
    • Goofs
When Gerry identifies the woman in the picture as Caitlin's mum, he incorrectly states it was Alison. Alison was (according to old series) Gerry's second wife and mum to Amelia, Caitlin's mum was in fact Jane, his third wife. This was all according to the previous series.
