This is a fun film to watch and was easy to access through Amazon Prime. A light hearted comedy with a wee touch of encouragement for the misfits of the employed and unemployed world. I really liked the soundtrack and characters, which I think most people would find something in common with one of them.
Don't go into Craig Quits His Day Job expecting biting workplace satire. What you'll find instead is a very bizarre movie full of eccentric characters, non sequiturs, and absurdist humor. It starts off shaky and takes 10 minutes or so to find its groove, but once Craig leaves the office, this offbeat movie comes together, as Craig is pulled into the harebrained schemes of a wannabe criminal, helps his demented hoarder neighbor fulfill an ancient prophesy, gets recruited by Satanic cultists, and goes on a series of strange encounters and misadventures. Craig Quits His Day Job won't inspire you to leave your cubicle behind, but if you enjoy cult comedies and indie cinema, check it out.
At a glance, the premise seems familiar: a man quits his boring corporate job in hopes of finding some what he's really good at in life. Unfortunately, the titular Craig of "Craig Quits His Day Job" isn't really good at well... anything, and that includes quitting. Thus, we get a slacker comedy about the world's worst slacker which ends up leading to some very oddball, left field humor. Dare I say random? If you're a fan of this brand (Napoleon dynamite anyone?) then you'll enjoy Eric Paul Chapman's piece for sure. What ultimately makes the film work is that Craig is just such a quirky and soft guy, you can't really help but root for him in whatever odd goal he endeavors to achieve. Is there a moral in all this? Who knows and who cares: the laughs are worth it.
Craig quits his job and the fun begins. This film is full of fun characters that seem to spin around Craig like tiny crazy planets. The hapless Craig quits his "lifer job" to get out from under a tyrant of a boss, and quickly falls head first into a seemingly parallel universe radiating from his apartment building.
The quitter self help group sessions were some of my favorite moments, with deadpan quirky performances by all the actors. Just a lot of fun.
Does Craig find love with Grace? Does he get his butt kicked by her supernatural tough guy boyfriend Klaus? Is Bing Crosby really in this film? Watch this funny movie and find out!
I applaud the filmmakers for putting together a comedy feature in Pittsburgh and showcasing some of Pittsburgh's finest actors. Way to go!!

A charming light comedy featuring a kooky bunch of misfits that you will warm to immediately. Refreshing to see an American comedy not set in the typical Hollywood milieu. Fresh and unexpected.
