Different in a good way
Cheese in the Trap is one drama I would rewatch just to appreciate Park Hae Jin's character because quite honestly he did a great job. It's one drama that is unconventional and I liked it that way. The main lead has a weird way of showing his love towards his girlfriend which he thinks works but seems cruel to others. I have no issue with the ending as it worked perfectly for me, considering the direction the drama had taken. I would recommend for someone to watch and form their own opinion, I however loved it.
This is not a romantic comedy, but a psycological thriller.
I have to be honest, I stopped watching after episode five, because my heart couldn't take the tension any more. This is definitely one of the best psychological thrillers I have seen, but it is not romantic, or funny, in any way. A full on sociopath gets obsessed with a girl, and manipulates everyone around her so he can get close to her. She is too scared and confused to stand up to him. I read the spoilers, and to my surprise he DIDN'T murder anyone. The male lead is THAT scary.
If you are like me, and like to watch silly, light, romantic stuff, don't watch this. If you like to not be able to sleep at night, I highly recommend this.

I'm not a kdrama watcher but...
My spouse is the kdrama fan, not me. I tend to find them a bit saccharine, corny, or over the top. That said, this was INCREDIBLE.
The character development was so nuanced and complex, watching the series was almost like reading a really good book. They don't explain everything, they leave some things for the audience to connect the dots on, and I really appreciated that.
My one complaint was the ending felt like I needed just a little more closure than I got, even though I understand, I think, why they did it the way they did. I just would have loved to see the look on her face when the one thing happened in that last moment.

The truth
Roses are red
Violets are blue
SEO Kang Joon is the second lead
But he's first for you.
Not convinced at all
It started out very promising, but after some episodes they totally lost me. I almost stopped watching. Although after about episode 11 luckily I regained interest.
There was no lovely chemistry between the ML and FL. Most of the time I felt awkward about how he acted. What a toxic relationship they had! And over and over again she excepted the way he mistreated people.
The most annoying character for sure was the sister. Omg, the way she acted?! And this from the beginning until the last minute!
It was bad enough that it wasn't a lovely story, the ending felt incomplete. But then again, I didn't mind the series was over. Normally I have withdrawal symptoms from being sucked into a series, but this one was easy to let go.
The only reason to watch the series: Seo Kang Joon. Loved his character: his smile, his will to be independent, his caring for her and his sister 😍 He really was the reason I kept watching after some disappointing episodes... and kept hoping. Unfortunately for nothing much.
