    Not enough nudity!

Boys on film 11 - We Are Animals

I'm not sure why this collection of shorts was rated 18, because it wasn't for the amount or gratuitous sex or nudity and there was only a bit of swearing, very little violence and the horror wasn't scary.

Overall the stories were okay, with 'Three Summers' and 'Alaska Is A Drag' leading the way. Burger was just not worth the watch at all.

    • We are Animals (2013)

It's a very poignant take on the AIDS crisis and even more relevant having just started to come out of the Covid-19 situation. It was definitely a tad art house and a little bit extreme in its delivery and there were moments that were very surreal.

    Free The Beast!

    5/10.

    • Burger (2013)

This was exactly the part of clubbing I don't miss! I never knew if something was going to kick off and if I was going to be the one in the middle of things. Fortunately our feeding trough after the clubs was a MacDonalds and it had bouncers all of its own. It sounds positively posh after seeing this.

I'm not sure that this film was relevant to the 'Boys On Film' franchise? It was more of a crap episode of 'Hollyoaks' (1995-) or a snippet of 'It's A Sin' (2021) where the lead characters took a back seat.

For me it was just rubbish and obnoxious.

    1/10.

    • Alaska Is A Drag (2012)

I really liked this one. It was cute and I could see why it was remade in to a feature film in 2017.

Drag isn't usually my thing and if I'm honest, I would prefer that the makers of 'Boys' and 'Girls On Film' came up with a new collection of 'Drag On Film', because I only really turn up for the guy on guy stuff.

With that said, the performances were very good from all and I liked the connection that the two leads made.

    6/10.

    • Three Summers (2006)

Based on the films that I have seen across 'Boys On Film' 1-11 and this film in particular on the 11th, I've had a really boring time of things in my life. Why couldn't I get that lucky when I was Thomas' age and vice versa, now that I'm a lot older? Actually I would probably have turned Jørgen down when I was a pretentious little twink and I've been known to moan like hell about 18 year olds that only want me, so that they can call me Daddy. But none of those occasions were ever as sweet as the relationship depicted here.

It was very cute, but not how I probably wanted it to go, better than some of the other ways it could have gone though I suppose. Probably the best one on Disc 11 (We Are Animals), although I wasn't sure how it fitted the theme.

    7/10.

    • The Last Time I Saw Richard (2013)

I'm not really into horror stuff and this was weak, even by the standards of the ones I have watched. The LGBT element of this film was suggested at most and tenuous at that.

I didn't think that there was really much point to it or that it was worth being part of a gay collection, but it wasn't badly made otherwise.

    2/10.

    • Little Man (2012)

The first issue with this one, was that it wasn't the best acting at all, especially Ryan the brother.

I suppose we were to assume that 'The Little Man' was Cupid/Eros? Assigned specifically to Elliot, but it was all very unclear and too brutal. I didn't get it and Elliot was a bit violent for the stereotypical gay man.

There was no real substance to it at all.

    1/10.

    • For Dorian (2012)

This was not one that I could enjoy, although the production values were good.

    1/10.

    • Spooners (2013)

It was a very silly little film, but it did get a point across about how things can feel out in the big, scary, wide world for gay men that are still a little bit insecure about their sexuality or might be in an environment where that is potentially an issue, because we never know how people will treat us.

    5/10.
