Stumbling upon the 2018 horror comedy "Cynthia" by sheer random chance here in 2025, and never having heard about it, of course I had to check it out. I am a big fan of all things horror, after all. And without knowing what I was in for, I guess directors Devon Downs and Kenny Gage had every opportunity to entertain me.
The movie starts out a bit slow, I will say, but stick with it, because the narrative definitely kicks into a proper gear once the birthing is happening. Writer Robert Rhine put together a strange and bizarre story, for sure, but there was something oddly entertaining about it.
The cast ensemble in the movie is quite good, and there are some great performers on the cast list, with the likes of Scout Taylor-Compton, Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, James Karen and Lynn Lowry. Needless to say that the acting performances in the movie were good.
The special effects in the movie were good, and definitely added some fun and enjoyment to the overall impression of the movie.
If you enjoyed movies such as the "Basketcase" trilogy, then you will definitely also enjoy this movie.
My rating of "Cynthia" lands on a five out of ten stars.

This was GREAT fun... expected nothing but got an entertaining 90 mins! Storyline is ridiculous, script was tongue in cheek... We were both rooting for Cynthia... totally funny, totally camp and utterly crap... highly recommend...
Cynthia was a pleasant surprise in a current trend of horror movies wanting to recreate Stranger Things era scenes,Along comes Cynthia who is a breath of fresh air! Based in modern day Cynthia creates suspense and comedy all rolled into one fantastic film. The film keeps you guessing for a bit about what Cynthia will look like but when you finally meet her you are hard pressed not to look at her as a villian character but instead fall for her and feel emotion for her misunderstood life she was given.I wish we had a few more scenes with Cynthia I can always hope for part 2 for more involvement with horrors new poster girl !

I loved this movie! As the saying goes, "For those who like this sort of thing, it's just the sort of thing they like." And I am that sort. The story was fresh and clever, and very timely. The twist in the relationship between husband and wife came from left field -- I had no idea is was coming and it hit like a funny bomb. The suspense of the baby (?!?!) rampaging had me laughing and at the edge of my seat. I totally recommend Cynthia as a great pizza night for frats, gals, as well as couples!!!!
Very poorly acted, the couple was annoying me from the first 5 seconds. Carried on watching just to see what happens.
Do not recommend.
Don't believe the other reviews, it's a waste of time!
