Seriously, i can't understand why there are so much people that critics this movie, for start, the beginning is beautiful for me, how Garfield was a baby, and went to the pizza shop and he met Jon, it is not the definitely Garfield origin but is good, The animation is glorious, with some slapstick moments, and very good jokes this movie is very entertaining, I like so much how Garfield and Vic at the start have a bad relationship and then they learn how to work together I love that, the final battle is excellent for a Garfield movie, the soundtrack is Great, the emotive soundtracks are Perfect, like the tree scene, I love that scene, and his music is beautiful, Odie is the best character of the film, is perfect, Jinx is actually a great villain, his partners the big and the small dog are extremely entertaining and are hilarious, and Otto is good, all the characters for me are good, my only problem is that there is scenes that are fill and is filled bad, but If we took that, what I can say, great movie, and serous,y very underrated, I give to this film an 9.2/10.

First, I am a lover of Garfield so what follows is obviously biased. Nevertheless, this full length animated cartoon movie is one of the best I have come across. The plot centers around an origination story and the present story about a mysterious disappearance that Garfield and friends must save themselves from. What is powerful about this movie is not just the pacing, the excellent cartoon comic sequences as well as the longer movie scenes, the comedy, but also the emotional humanity flowing out of the screen and affecting the audience on a deeper level than most, similar to the animated dog movie Bolt (2008). Maybe it is just the genre or narrow children's targeted storyline that audience member might criticize this movie, but for those who love Garfield, this movie is a joy to watch and give them a much more comprehensive, fuller personality of Garfield as a total identity instead of the traditional stereotypical version that is often presented in cartoons and television.

As other reviewers mentioned, I wasn't really expecting much from this, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

This was FUNNY! My six year grandson was giggling the whole time, which made it worth admission alone- but I enjoyed it too! The voices were very well done and I loved the fun they had with regional accents an vocabulary.

The best part of this movie was the positive portrayal of the selfless love of a father, restoring broken relationships, and taking personal responsibility.

In a day when so many families have been broken due to misunderstandings or miscommunication, it's so great to see a movie that portrays how important it is to restore relationships to restore peace in our heart. A broken familial relationship does more to bring turmoil to your peace and that of everyone around you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this rendition of Garfield, it was both adorable, cute and full of funny one-liners. Its childish but entertaining for adults. I even didn't mind Chris Pratt, Samuel Jackson was a great fit for the father. Odie (Oder!) was smart and cuter than ever! The art style was bright, well detailed and full of character. They made the food look delicious! I would watch this again. The movie's lighthearted tone and humour made it a great family film. The voice acting was top-notch, and the story was engaging and fun. Overall, a great adaptation of the beloved comic strip! Def recommend this film.

I don't know who is giving these reviews but they are doing it wrong.

Here is a review worth reading from my 7 year old. He thought the movie was awesome and I thought it was good too.

It's for the kids and all the kids that were there and with us absolutely loved it. So did the adults. Going in hoping for an Oscar winning show is your first mistake. It's written for children and it's written so that they can understand the story. When they did it the other way in the 2000s it was absolutely trash. This is a fun movie.

These reviews are out to lunch. It's a great family show enjoyable for all ages.

Great for an afternoon out with the grandchildren and funny for all ages

Darcy thought is beautiful and soo funny Age 5 from Linslade. Worth staying for all the real cat outtakes at the end. Think we were the last to leave!

It was quite a simple story and well told. Plenty of slapstick to keep children amused. Lots of up to date jokes that could be funny for adults also.

Animation was really good and the food and pizza eating hilarious

Gorgeous animation, great script ( I cried). Fun, family movie. A bit too much product placement. Easily edit out a couple of the final scenes. Chris Pratt was okay, and the voice of a new generation's Garfield. Garfield's (Sam Jackson) was great as his dad. Lot's of pop culture references for the adults. Jon.(Nick Hoult) is sadly under used, in favour of bigger named actors in smaller roles. With the release of this movie , Garfield merchandise will be much easier to find for his North American fans. Will there be a Garfield 2? I don't know, but I am definitely going again, and I am taking my dad.

Ok. It's a Garfield flick. Read the comic strip that used to be in the paper, enjoyed it. Non of it is or was high art. That said, here is my review.

Animation: 9/10 Voice Acting: 7/10 Is it scary?: 4/10* Writing: 3/10 Was it enjoyable?: sure Many of the review I read on various forums contained a lot of negativity. I found this criticism a bit harsh.

The voice acting was as good as it needed to be for this picture. Chris Pratt was a humorous lead. SLJ would have been more recognizable but they kept it PG. Any large bovine male in an animated movie is voice acted by 1 of 3 actors, this time Ving Rhames did the honors.

The rest of the cast did their job and sold the characters well enough.

There were surprisingly several moments that were on the edge of getting to heavy for very young kids. But it always eased off right before the point of no return.

My only real objection, and why I couldn't leave a 10/10 was the writing. So much of what went on was over the top, unnecessary and felt like a cheap copy of better versions.

The villain was believable, albeit over the top, henchmen were typical but still amusing.

The message or 'moral of the story' was an uplifting one. Second chances and forgiveness with a heaping helping of italian cuisine.

Plenty of gags, and whit. The sarcasm of Garfield was dialed back, but so was his over arching meanness.

Great for a family, or young kids.
