I really wanted to like this show, truly. I'm a big fan of anthology series', particularly sci-fi. But if there is one word that sums up Electric Dreams; it's Lazy.
The storylines are completely undeveloped, almost as if you have a beginning and an end. I was shocked several times to realize the episode was over, saying to myself, that's it? In addition, there was almost no attention paid to the finer details. Most episodes are purported to take place in the near or medium future, but you have episodes like Crazy Diamond where technology is hyper advanced, but they drive around in 2008 Beetles, just with different hubcaps. You see the same lack of thought in Kill All Others, where they're driving around 2010 jeep cherokees with a fake electric hum, when the year is supposed to be 2050.
The best episode by far is The Commuter, whose middling plot is saved by an impressive performance from Timothy Spall.
Watch it, make up your own mind, but if you're looking for a show to fill the gap while you wait for more Black Mirror, this isn't it.

Just feels like your typical futuristic technology setting that's trying too hard to be witty and clever. Just kinda boring.

I normally love anthologies, but this one just wasn't it. The very first episode had me desperately clawing at the walls of boredom about 30 minutes in. By the time I'd finished it, I realized I'd completely disassociated through the last 20 minutes of it due to sheer boredom and couldn't even put the plot together. I was just glad it was over.
I think they wanted to make full length films, and just cut them down to about an hour. If you go into this, don't expect a whole bunch of interesting stories, but a lengthy dive into each one, which would work if they were clever or interesting...
I went on to watch another 2 episodes, and while they were infinitely less annoying than the first episode, I felt like pacing was also an issue. There is just so much nothing throughout these episodes to get to anything, you simply lose track about 30 minutes in.
I think if they'd had a more talented editor, or more competent writers, maybe shaved about 20~25 minutes of dead air from each episode, it probably could have been in the same hall of fame as the rest, but as it stands, there's a reason you've probably never heard of this series and are looking through the reviews.

I mean either the writer doesn't understand at all how the human mind works or the director doesn't. Extremely loose plots with no fundamentals of human mind whatsoever. Characters just believe in the lies like eating a cupcake. Characters are ready to give up trust on their most trusted allies in the show based on such loosely shown causations. I mean this was selected for prime time emmy is a big joke in itself. And sony pictures presenting it shows that they have really lost touch.
It's a rip off of black mirror. If we take black mirror as pinnacle of dystopia, then this show would be as bad as black mirror is good.

Being a huge fan of Black Mirror, I was excited to watch Electric Dreams after seeing the trailer, unfortunately after episode 1 I was slightly bemused and rather disappointed.
I decided to stick with it and now 4 episodes down the line I'm still disappointed. The story lines have potential and the cast is fantastic, but I have to say there seems to be a pattern emerging
1 Starts with an intriguing story line 2 Fails to deliver any kind of back story to the characters 3 Delivers a bland, boring ending that leaves you not only confused but in interested in trying to comprehend it because it was so dull
Any body who enjoys Black Mirror I would suggest avoid Electric Dreams, it's not in the same league Anybody who is considering watching this and hasn't seen Black Mirror I would suggest turn this off and go watch it instead

Plots of all episodes are childish and totally predictable. It is a waste of time to say the least. Either this "science fiction" writer (PKD) is an idiot or his work is grossly misrepresented here.
