Before I get into what I thought of the show, I'd like to let fans of the show know that this is a prequel to the show. For the most part it has nothing to do with the show itself, except that this is about how the world of games was created.
On its own though, I'd say that this movie is pretty good. The beginning is a bit messy, but once it gets everything sorted out, the overall story is good. The animation is pretty great, along with the voice acting and characters. This movie as a whole isn't great, but it has a lot of redeeming qualities and I would recommend it.

No game no life: zero takes place 6,000 years ago in the midst of the "eternal war" where 15 gods all thought that they were the one true god. What the gods do to determine the one true god is try to kill each other. Each god created a different and somehow unique race. There are dwarves, fairies, elves, flugels, humans, warebeasts, etc. The gods gather their armies and go to war. The 2 main protagonists are Riku who is a human fighting in the war and Schwi who is an ex-machina who separated herself from the system to learn about the human heart and emotions. I say that this is a must watch because it really made me feel for the characters and I was also very entertained. The ngnl anime series was where all conflicts were solved with games. The reason for that is because this eternal war was so violent and horrific that the last god remaining had to ban all acts of violence. So I like the change from happy go lucky characters with not much to worry about to people who are aware that they could die at any moment. The fight scenes are amazing and the it also really pulls on your heartstrings. I love this movie to death and I recommend that you watch it. Watch the series first if you haven't seen that because it pretty much requires you to have at least some knowledge about the world that it takes place.

Words escape me when it comes to this film. I can't think of a better film than the one I am reviewing right now. If you were to ask me what I like about this film, I would talk for hours and hours. I can't think of one thing I didn't like about it. In my eyes it's perfect. The jokes are funny, the animation is breathtaking, the characters feel like real people and are super fun, and the story (while a bit confusing on the first viewing) is fun and very intriguing. This film will make you feel both happy, sad, and hopeful. The message of the movie is so mature and important and is handled so well. I love everything about this movie. I highly recommend it. I love this movie, and I hope you give it a chance and love it too.
It was a good film. The story is quite good and has potential. It was very dark and sad at the same time, the ending was very emotional and it made me cry
Out standing animation, amazing soundtrack, incredible story and characters, and amazing voice acting.
