It is one of words defining this dark humor short animation. In essence, the story of a girl and her unlucky pets. For animation fans , it gives a lot of presents. For cats fans , it gives a subtle irony, a too realistic portrait and a solution against lost of lovely pets. A film like a challenge. Nice but far to be comfortable. A film about life and its sense , about ages, refuges, love and the choices defining us.And, off course, seductive animation.

Had the pleasure of watching this on Youtube. , I can't recommend it enough. There's something unique about the direction and animation style which successfully blends some dark situations with humor that on paper shouldn't work. It's absolutely hilarious and certainly not for children, however this is a story that could definitely only be told through animation. From this short alone you can really tell the director has a unique talent and is bold in their approach of tackling dark material. I won't give anything else about the story away and think this was twelve thoroughly entertaining minutes well spent!

"Catherine" is a Belgian film with an incredibly strange story. The little girl, Catherine, is bad luck with pets. Again and again, they die under her watchful care and it's therefore shocking that her cat actually survives...at least for a while! Again and again, she loses pets such as a dog, a fish and even an insect. So what makes the cat and other cats so special? And, how will the boy across the street figure into all this?

The film features a lot of animals getting killed...sometimes in rather grisly ways. It's not for young kids...even though the main character is a kid and the animations make it look like a kids film. Sick, creepy, weird...yet enjoyable.
