Man, I love Denzel Washington. I rented this DVD to see why he was nominated for an Oscar and James Franco was not.
Now I know. This movie just sucked the air out of the room. It was all over the place and I really hated everyone in this movie. I hated the maitre' de at the fancy restaurant. I hated that little kid with the bicycle in his cheap apartment. I Hated everyone in this movie.

About 45 minutes into the movie I said to my wife while watching the DVR of this movie : "see I know how to pick movies" with an air of self satisfaction usually reserved for more profound exclamation.s. As the movie continued to slog toward it's very welcomed end, I became increasingly anxious that my reputation would suffer tremendously. Sad to say I am now in the process of making amends that will take years to pay. The acting was only ok as well, unusual for Mr. Washington. O well, no one is perfect.
Anyway, in summary, the movie starts off promising although not original and meanders off a cliff. A very tall cliff by the way, so save your money and go see Death of Stalin.

Okay, so I watched the whole movie, and having reached the end I still can't say that I have any clue what this movie was actually about except maybe showing the miserable life of someone who is practicing the most miserable job one can have from the most miserable location in the world. The acting of the main character wasn't too bad, although I prefer watching Richard Ayoade, a similar dorky character, but way more fun too watch and someone who doesn't have to play the role. Would recommend to simply skip this movie and watch something worthwhile, unless you enjoy writing silly reviews like this one.

I don't get it. Is this a story about why you shouldn't be unethical? Why you shouldn't take pro bono work? If it's about the work Roman was doing, the movie sure didn't make it the primary story.
I kept waiting for it to get to the point, but it never did.
Great actors. Horrible writing. Horrible directing. Horrible overall storyline.

This is in my top ten worst films. I am confused as to why this films was made. It has no story line and no plot. I wasted two hours give or take watching this rubbish.

You know, I don't hate Denzel Washington or anything (though his street accent does kind of bug me), but he really isn't very much of an actor. He was good in 'Philadelphia' and he at least tried to give a performance in 'Training Day', but other than those two films, Denzel is mediocre at best and simply redundant the rest of the time.
There's nothing about his character here that I find enlightening and nothing about his acting that I find unique to the role. That big hair and those gigantic eyeglasses have got to go. So does that frumpy suit, and while he's at it, Denzel can pack up his inhibited acting style and go do dinner theater somewhere, preferably off the beaten path.
In summation, if I'm supposed to be impressed with his performance, he can take the next train out of town.... I think it leaves at midnight. He better hurry before he turns into a frumpy loser with big hair and giant glasses-- wait a minute, that's the part he played in the movie. He surely wouldn't want to go back into character. That would suck.

Don't waste 2 hours on this movie. This movie was could have been over in just 30 minutes. I fast forward it to see that something will happen but nothing till the end !
This movie rating should be less then 4 stars !
