Gripping and depressing.

I didn't watch the first Sharkwater from 2006 so I couldn't compare it to this one. I guess the first one was lesser depressing to watch than this one because that's the overall feeling I had whilst watching Sharkwater Extinction, a depressive feeling. I lost faith in humanity a long time ago, so even if everybody would watch this gripping documentary I don't think it would change anything. Humans are parasites, greedy and selfish, the only thing that counts is their cosy way of life and nothing will make them change their behaviour. There are some nice shots in this documentary but most of the time it's just a depressive hard story to swallow. Some scenes are in Spanish and not subtitled so difficult to understand for everybody. I searched for the subtitles online but just couldn't find it. Sometimes the sound is just too mumbling so I didn't get all the conversations and that's a minor negative point to this documentary. I applaud the effort of everybody that tries to change the world, those idealists that didn't give up hope, but in my case I just think it's too late to change anything. We're heading to a new world catastrophe and nothing will change that. Maybe we just deserve another mass extinction as we are not worth living on this planet.

Emotional & Relevant

Not only is this visually amazing underwater documentary, but it is also rare sight into the life of a man who was willing to do whatever it takes for the planet. I really enjoyed this film. It's an excellent investigation and raw journalism at it's finest, but it also registers so deeply with me emotionally. I feel like I know Rob Stewart, and I'm friends with the sharks. This one is going in the library, can wait for the blu ray.

Some critical thinking needed while viewing...

Just like there's "documentaries" out there about the near-extinction of polar bears, I've also seen and read scientific accounts that polar bears are actually at record high population numbers, as with sharks are increasing in numbers.

It's all how much perspective bias the "facts" are twisted to fit the intended dialogue.

I gave a "3" for some nice underwater camera shots.

it was an ok film

Mean it was a documentary so it was educational. I believe many of the high reviews may be because he died making the movie, but it is a solid 6.9

Really a beautiful movie from a beautiful soul

Shakwater Extinction is one of the best documentaries where sharks are the victims. Rob, the real life hero who gave his life to save the Sharks for this world and delivers an important message and changes the way you see the oceans. Its underwater photography is breathtaking. Really a Beautiful movie from a beautiful soul. I would also appreciate Rob's parents (Sandy and Brian) and Team Sharkwater who worked tirelessly to complete and release this movie after Rob's death. -Shariq

Amazing movie

I have been a fan of the original sharkwater since it was released. Rob's message is stronger and more focused that ever in this incredible sequel. It doesn't dwell on the tragic passing of Rob while making this until the end, which it has every right to do so and it does it well. Great music, awesome subject matter and amazing photography make this a great movie.

Exciting, amazing film by Rob Stewart

This film is so exciting and fascinating. I absolutely loved it and now have a new appreciation for sharks. Everyone should see this, it will give you a fresh look at not only sharks but all ocean life. Kudos to Rob Stewart for all his hard work and I hope his mission lives on forever.

Ruined by all the focus on the person and not the issue

I loved the first movie. But this "sequel" was ruined by the constant focus on the person and not the issue. Make up your minds, either make a documentary about the real problem or make a documentary/homage about Rob Stewart. If there wasn't enough material for the first because of his death then do the latter...

My first 10 star rating

Mindblowing.

Not the best technical movie I have ever seen, but Sharkwater Extinction shouldn't be judged on technical merits. The narrative in here, the sheer passion - the "man on a mission to save a species" - will make you love this movie. If you have a soul.

It will leave you both disgusted, optimistic and sad. An emotional rollercoasterride.

The tagline for the movie "Some heroes are real"? So true.

Horrible music

I fell asleep while movie was playing them the song "over the rainbow came on" I woke p screaming from a nightmare . In my nightmare I thought some woman was purposely singing that song to torture me. I woke my neighbor as well. She called the cops thinking someone was dying.

Covers a lot of geography

Stewart quotes, "why are we taught Shakespeare and algebra but not conservation and ecosystems?" ...or something like that. In any case, that makes an excellent point.
