Mother Krampus (2017) is a movie that I recently watched on Tubi. The storyline follows the story of German Urban Legend of Frau Perchta, the Christmas Witch. In a small town there's a legend of a witch in the woods who steals a kid from town every day for 12 days leading up to Christmas. The town thought they rid themselves of the witch in the 20s but when children start disappearing again they may not be as rid of the witch as they believe.
This movie is directed by James Klass (House on Elm Lake) and stars Tony Manders (The Young Cannibals), Tara MacGowran (Secret Places), Oliver Ebsworth (Nightmare on 34th Street), Sian Crisp (Rocketman) and Becca Hirani (The Gardener).
The best part of the movie is the horror background music. The horror elements are very weak and most of the kills are disappointing. There is a good back stabbing in the woods scene. The acting and dialogue are weak and the makeup used to create the witch was mediocre. The villain doesn't look anything like the cover art at all.
Overall, this is a below average addition to the horror genre that I would score a 3/10 and recommend skipping.

It is hard to determine if the people can act, there is NOT ONE BIT OF NORMAL REACTION TO ANY CIRCUMSTANCE IN THIS MOVIE. Children about bo be killed would never act as in this move, they would become defensive in their fright. People who are loved being killed around them, they would not act at all as depicted. THIS IS ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES I HAVE EVER WATCHED. Midpoint of the movie, Amy's father shows up for Christmas dinner with his 2 month long new relationship with a "bimbo." Acting as if nothing has happened to Amy's poor, deserted mother and that they should all "enjoy Christmas together." This is the also daughter's attitude and totally unrealistic. The story line of the entire movie is hard to follow as it makes no logical sense at all.
Most of the acting: BAD
Directing: BAD
Screenplay: ALMOST AS BAD
Music: NOT SO BAD ACTUALLY
Title: COMPLETELY OUT OF PLACE
Theme: GOOD ONE
Final twist in the story: BRILLIANT
Team JAMES KLASS & SCOTT JEFFREY, guys, please do not make any more movies 🍀
Instead of this movie going from 0 to 60, it went from 60 to 0. It started out like it was going to be a good movie, but somewhere towards the middle right down to the end it became horrible. The story line was good, but the acting and directing started to suck, it seems like the actors lost their scripts, gave up and started improvising. The acting was bad and the movie turned ridiculous. Save yourself 1:28:45!
I guess some marketing wiz thought that having the word "Krampus" to the title might make a few folks watch it. Deceitful and shameful. This movie had nothing to do with Krampus. It was just another "scary" movie capitalizing on the horror Christmas theme.

- TriviaPerchta or Berchta (English: Bertha), also commonly known as Percht and other variations, was once known as a goddess in Alpine paganism in the Upper German and Austrian regions of the Alps. Her name may mean "the bright one" (Old High German beraht, bereht, from Proto-Germanic *brehtaz) and is probably related to the name Berchtentag, meaning the feast of the Epiphany. Eugen Mogk provides an alternative etymology, attributing the origin of the name Perchta to the Old High German verb pergan, meaning "hidden" or "covered". Perchta is often identified as stemming from the same Germanic goddess as Holda and other female figures of German folklore (see Frija-Frigg). According to Jacob Grimm and Lotte Motz, Perchta is Holda's southern cousin or equivalent, as they both share the role of "guardian of the beasts" and appear during the Twelve Days of Christmas, when they oversee spinning. Grimm says Perchta or Berchta was known "precisely in those Upper German regions where Holda leaves off, in Swabia, in Alsace, in Switzerland, in Bavaria and Austria."
- GoofsThe film states that the disappearances begin before Christmas, but equates this to the twelve days of Christmas. The twelve days of Christmas actually begin on Christmas day and end twelve days later, on January 5th.
