The deadites ass kickers are back! Ash is managing a store, Pablo is, well, living his dream, Kelly is a bartender sort of. We know it's just a matter of time before they get back to slashing deadites. The necronomicon is back at play, but seriously they couldn't come up with a creative way other than "I found it laying on the ground?" Anyways, someone read it and the evil is back, and so is Ruby, only now she has a grand plan? No I don't think so, doesn't this seem like a rehash of the previous seasons? Giving birth to creepy kids, doesn't that ring a bell?. However, majority of the episode focuses on the discovery that Ash has an illegitimate daughter he never knew about, Brandy. Who would be surprised? I am not! and neither was Kelly. It makes for a drama. The action in this episode is pretty exciting. It takes place in a music room. I love how they take advantage of the equipments available in the room to make the fight kinda funny. Cymbals slicing head, drumsticks, guitar, piano, trumpet and even harp are used to great effects. The gore effects are more gorier than ever. Overall, a great opening episode for s3 that leaves you wanting more.

Man is this series a breathe of groovy fresh breathe. Simply consistent from the start until opening ep of season 3. Your getting exactly what you want from a series like this without a drop in quality. I personally think this season written the right way will be the beast of the 3 so far. And i hope they give it 5 seasons and end it really well. It doesnt need to drag on longer than 5 tho. Its the perfect amount of time to explore everything evil dead has to offer. and then frankly the franchise should probably end. Bruce is getting close to the point where he cant do the action scenes upto scratch and it will soon become a little weird if he gets too old and they keep piling on more makeup. And they frankly can never, never replace him imo. And the new non comedy evil dead movie was fine, but not evil dead. It was its own movie pretty much. And as a campy horror comedy of the 80's. Nothing will ever top Bruce and his performance in the evil dead series . Period

What was utterly brilliant and delightful TV in season one was already feeling a little tired by the end of season two. But now?? Now it is effectively the same episode over and over again. Nothing actually happens any more. It's great watching Bruce bash out one liners but they are the same one liners, in the same circumstances.

The cast all just seems tired and bored with being in the show now. They are repeating the same dialogue, about the same plot points, with the same SFX and the same story. You can see they have this moment in their delivery of their lines like "Wait...didn't I just say this two eps ago?"

YES. Yes you did. Now that they have completely squeezed the life and humour out of this, they have jammed in a couple of pointless new characters too. The first two eps of this season are enough to convince me I have seen everything good that they can do with this show. It is done now. There is nothing left to reveal, nowhere left to go and nothing we haven't heard Ash say, repeatedly.

If you are wondering whether or not to watch this show, I highly recommend you start with Army of Darkness, then watch Season 1 and call it a day. Don't bother with S03. The dead may have risen again, but they have nothing new to say.

Season 3 of "Ash vs Evil Dead" starts with a wimp, with little of interest happening and situations that repeat and rehash moments from the movies and the first two seasons. It feels as if the show, sadly, has run out of steam. Which is a pity, because Bruce Campbell and Ash should be fun to be with. Let's see if the next episodes improve on this weak, humorless first.
