It's alright.

If you are able to get past the dreadful characters, it's just OK. The performances themselves are not bad at all, but the characters they portray are so utterly unlikeable it's truly difficult to root for anyone here. The decisions that the main character makes are baffling at times and make you wonder how a person that can figure out all these clues could be so prone to such knuckle dragging choices. The writing in this film is very spotty at times. It feels like at certain points the writers rushed or just plain forgot aspects of the story they're trying to tell. Once the ending rolls around, you don't really feel anything but a sense of disbelief (Not in a good way). So many things go by the wayside that really should be answered or hinted at one way or another. The Clovehitch Killer is a slow burn thriller that fails to capitalize on its interesting premise and acting chops of its cast. There's some good scenes and tense moments, but there's far better choices for your Friday night if you're looking for something in this genre.

Not a Mystery or Horror!

Not a Mystery or Horror as this movie has been billed on IMDB. It is really at most a predictable thriller with shallow outcome, nevertheless good to talk through out with my girlfriend as story does not need much concentration!

Back and forth...

This film has genuinely unnerving and tense scenes with some pretty good acting. Unfortunately, it also has long stretches of uneventfulness and some truly stupid decisions and terrible acting. This could've been great, but it needed trimming and rewrites really, really badly.

A Well Shot Film With Untapped Potential

I enjoyed the cinematography of this movie and was drawn in the entire time. I liked how the movie used various techniques to enhance the visual appeal of this movie. However, this is where the movie falls short. We know who the killer is within like 10 minutes of the movie, the picture is irrefutable to me. After that, it's no longer a guessing game and just a drawn out standoff between father son and son's "girlfriend". I wish they had thought out the plot more and left more ambiguity to leave the viewer intrigued and on their toes. Anyone with half a brain will quickly see who the killer is and just feel like they are being forced to endure it by ignoring the obvious.

Not as exciting as trailer leads u to believe

I was very excited for this movie. It was slow in the beginning which I didn't mind as I figured it was building. However, for me it never built to anything worth writing home about. I watched on but I was bored so I vagued in and out and evidently missed the "great" bits hat tie it all together. Still don't know the whole story (came on here to find out) or why it was supposed to be so good.

It had potential to be as exciting as the trailer showed but I guess they chose to be more "arty" with it which I never enjoy so...

It's kind of a good movie and I'd give it a higher rating, but...

This Movie is supposed to be based on the BTK Killer, but the similarities are between this Movie and BTK could be the same as any Serial Killer in History. He left a Clue and kept something from the Victim. That's where they end.

I saw right through this, it's just another attempt by the Liberals in Hollywood to bash Christianity, and because of recent News at the time, also Boy Scout Leaders. Yeah Yeah, we all know there are a few Bad Apples out there in every sector of Life. Guaranteed The Liberal Left Hollywood types have more of them in our Society than any other demographic. Most of our Society is a Secular one, so I would have given it a higher Rating had the Killer been an Average Joe.

I liked the 2 path effect though, where they go back to a specific part in the Movie and tell the rest of the story. From there.

Iong

Didn't love it, didn't hate it, very cumbersome watch with little in the way of character development, plot or tension to justify the slow pace of the movie.

The Clovehitch Killer is a competent, if familiar, entry in the serial killer genre

I recently watched The Clovehitch Killer (2018) on Netflix. The story follows a teenage boy with what seems like an ideal life: a great dad, active involvement in the Boy Scouts, and regular attendance at church. But things begin to unravel when a serial killer resurfaces in town, leaving the bodies of young women behind. As suspicion builds, the question becomes: who could be responsible?

Directed by Duncan Skiles (Neighborhood Watch), the film stars Dylan McDermott (Steel Magnolias), Charlie Plummer (Looking for Alaska), Samantha Mathis (Broken Arrow), and Madisen Beaty (Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood).

The film plays like a more restrained take on the Jeffrey Dahmer story, centered on a teen struggling with suspicion, confusion, and the weight of family loyalty. The acting is solid, and the relationships feel authentic as the story unfolds. The film effectively portrays how internal struggles and denial can ripple outward and impact the people closest to you.

While the setup is fairly cliché and starts off predictably, things escalate quickly in the final act, taking a more intense and, at times, over-the-top turn. It's both shocking and oddly inevitable how events unfold-especially given who is involved and who is watching. The ending holds your attention, if only to see how everything finally plays out.

In conclusion, The Clovehitch Killer is a competent, if familiar, entry in the serial killer genre. It holds your interest but doesn't do quite enough to stand out. I'd give it a 5/10.

Bland

The idea and story is interesting but the execution is bad. The acting is emotionalless and there is practically no sound effects. When any action finally happens there is literally no backround sound to build up the tension. There is just really weak sounding effects. To top it all off the main character is kind of dumb.

Mediocre but interesting

This movie had a lot going for it but the dialogue was so terrible. The forced chemistry between the two young leads was so not believable and the acting left a lot to be desired. The movie is pushed by coincidences and lacks subtlety. But the shots that are set up are very pleasing, even if it's mostly stills it gives it an uncomfortable feel. The main character is so unbelievably stupid and naive it was distracting I laughed way much more than I should have. It could've and I wish that it was done better.
