    How Many Wolfskin Coats Can You Wear?

    This was the longest of the Oscar-nominated animated films for 2018 and I firmly believe the best. Based on a book by Roald Dahl with illustration by Quentin Blake, it is the best film version of any Roald Dahl work I have ever seen. There is little doubt that Dahl was a brilliant, mean, sick man, and whenever you look at an adaptation of his work, there comes a point at which there is a clear wobbling and a sense of "No, let's not go there, shall we? Let's just make farting noises. That will make the kiddies laugh."

    Mr. Dahl went there. Mr. Dahl went there, and said "Hans Christian Anderssen went there, and so did the Brothers Grimm. And how do you like the venison, Mr. Disney?" This story that combines Red Riding Hood, Snow White, the Three Little Pigs, bank fraud, horse-race fixing, and a nice little revenge drama, as narrated by the uncle of the Big Bad Wolves, is a constant black-humor delight. I see that REVOLTING RHYMES part 2 is listed on the IMDb. I have high hopes.

    A delightful animated film based on Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes

    The story: a wolf tells a lady about his misfortune, a story involving the truth about Red Riding Hood. But he is a wolf with a plan...

    The animation does justice to Roald Dahl's incredible fantasy and irresistible and sometimes even cruel humour - it does not always end well for the naughty ones! - , but it seems to lack Quentin Blake's unique style. Still, the animation has its own merit.

    Dominic West succeeds in giving the big bad wolf a soul: he is a tormented character one can relate to: intelligent, vengeful, but still more human than most of the human characters in the story.

    The bound between Red Riding Hood and Snow White is sweet and seems to evolve beyond friendship, but the hints remains subtle.

    David Walliams does some funny voices for some lesser characters, such as wolf Rex (a nephew) and Twig Pig.

    A very nice animated two-part movie. Kids are going to love it, their parents too! Still, there is some violence and some scenes might be upsetting for young children.

    The Dahl truth behind your favourite nursery rhymes (and their sinister sides)

    The Dahl story behind some of your favourite nursery rhymes (and their sinister sides). Lots of fun. Wonderful animation (if you can get a hold of the DVD, there is an excellent Special Feature/Behind the Scenes on The Making of...). Gifted voice cast. Nominated for a 2018 Oscar, this is all round fun. I give this film a 7.9 (really good) out of 10. {Animated Tales}

    Absolutley Brilliant on Every Level.

    With a rare and 'biting" sense of humor, this exceptional animated feature came as a pure delight.

    Look for those small details, like Red's coat made from the brother wolf that she, uh, killed in a most dramatic way. Sure her wolf coat has those little wolf ears at the top of her red "hoodie, but the two legs and paws that Red uses as a sash belt...well, those are the small details that makes this feature a must see. And watch for the little piggy who owns the local bank! These two well told stories unfold in a perfect and satisfying way with the denouements being as refreshing as if you heard them for the first time.

    The voices are tremendous and Dominic West as the Wolf is absolutely superb, as he adds an authoritative and nuanced "gravitas" to the role.

    BRAVO, Roald Dah's clever and mature screenplay and and Quentin Blake's magnificent visual realizations!

    Roald Dahl Is King Of The Children's Story.

    These half hour animated films are beautiful crafted as you can see elements of Quentin Blake's illustrations. There was never going to be anyway to create them perfectly and still make them soft enough to be lovable. I believe the animators struck the right balance. As for the vocal talents, well I have to say that this has the best cast I've ever heard. The voice of the big bad wolf not only holds menace and threat but also humour and affection.

    I would recommend everybody to check these short animations out - they are beautiful, scary, and funny - absolutely awesome.
