Fascinating doc that is entertaining and mesmerizing as well. Obstacle racing is something I never knew anything about but it's a great 'survivor' type sport that is so engrossing and interesting. The paint job done by his wife is artistic and original and just gives him a curious look and sparks the imagination in this most unusual sport. I highly recommend it for some really fun viewing.

This doc was incredibly interesting. I knew nothing about the world of obstacle racing prior to watching this, but what really captured my attention was the incredible focus and drive that Stephen exhibits, his bond with his wife and the aspirational nature of their mindset. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Stephen Sinek embodies the unique namesake of the unique documentary, "The Painted Warrior," a film which introduces us to the fascinations of obstacle racing through the sport's most (literally) colorful participant.

It turns out obstacle racing is exactly as the name implies: Through fifty miles of the Mesquite Valley in Arizona, competitors endure a barrage of physical challenges, including leaping over open flames, crawling in mud, and lugging gargantuan things around. Sinek takes on this mind-bending event in fully body paint and not much else, with wife Aeni Domme applying her highly visual color palate to her husband's blank canvas.

What's striking and aspirational about "The Painted Warrior" is the fact Sinek doesn't dominate his sport the way that, say, Joey Chestnut dominates the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest. Instead, the doc focuses on the man inside the head -- rather than whomever else it might be that ends up occupying the race's winner's circle. An in-depth portrait of a man, his wife, and their art of living. The first thing that comes to mind is symbiosis, both between husband and wife and life and art. Rather than be any kind of spoiler, I'll simply say that this is a well-filmed, well executed, and artful in both subject matter and execution. Highly recommend!
