Seedling

It's difficult to review something that only lasts for 8 minutes (especially when you have seen Niamh Algar in 9 episodes in the first series of fellow sci-fi effort Raised By Wolves).

There is little dialogue here but Niamh is her photogenic self with the birthmark on her right hand getting nearly as much screen time as her alluring smile and dreamy blue eyes.

Ridley Scott should take a look at this. It would make for a great series The Irish coast is nearly as beautiful sight as the starring lady. The leading man was quite good too.

It was hard to find this. I looked everywhere then found it on the you tube page for sci-fi channel Dust.

It's well worth digging it out.

Seedling is a sci-fi short film that feels like it could easily evolve into a captivating television series. It brings to mind recent shows like Invasion (2021-), which explore a somewhat similar premise.

The central idea in Seedling is that an alien presence has arrived on Earth-either as invaders or mysterious visitors whose intentions remain unclear. Interestingly, only certain people seem capable of connecting with them, echoing a concept also found in Invasion.

What sets both apart from traditional alien-invasion stories like Independence Day or V is the portrayal of the extraterrestrials: they don't resemble anything we've seen before in popular media. They're not humanoid, and their appearance enhances the sense of otherworldly mystery.

That said, Seedling maintains its own distinct style and tone. It offers a fresh take on alien contact and would undoubtedly appeal to fans of the genre seeking something new and thought-provoking.
