This is actually a really good prequel, reveals almost nothing about the plot, builds suspense and horror, and gives you a connection to the characters. Actually, I wish all studios would make prologues instead of trailers. Prologues set up the story without spoiling anything. Anyway, with this cast and cinematography, the actual film might be a better entry in the Alien universe, better than Prometheus that is.
An obvious nod to the biblical Last Supper-and a fitting addition to a film that portrays an alien race as "gods" who created humans, with a human-made android now playing god-this clip has several highlights. First, it introduces the crew of the Covenant, gathered together in one room, partying and bonding like a family. James Franco appears only briefly, while the focus rests mainly on the lead actress, Daniels. Second, the clip cleverly echoes the original Alien film, serving both as a distraction and as a heartfelt tribute to the classic that started it all.
It's just an introductory short film. Kudos to LGBTQIA+ visibility and that's all.
Okay, these prologues are kind of annoying. Especially when you have to hunt them down. Just put all of them into the movie or edit it down. Will make the overall experience much more enjoyable.
Instead, just leaves a bad taste in the mouth . . .
