I had never heard about this 2024 movie titled "Gypsy Moon" prior to sitting down and watching it. And while I initially had no expectations to the movie, I have to say that when I realized that the movie was written by, directed by and starring the one and the same person, that being Tony Gibson, my expectations went down a notch. I generally don't enjoy movies that are written by, directed by and starring the same person, as they usually tend to be dubious affairs.
Regardless, I opted to give "Gypsy Moon" a fair chance, after all, the movie's cover was interesting enough to have made me pick it up.
It was a rather sluggishly paced storyline and script that didn't really have an abundance of anything worthwhile or interesting to offer. And that made sitting through 80 minutes of this movie quite a struggle.
I was actually not familiar with any of the actors or actresses on the cast list, which proved to be one thing that worked in favor of the movie. I do enjoy watching unfamiliar and new talents on the screen, after all. The acting performances in the movie were fair, but you're not in for anything grand or memorable.
Hardly a movie that I would recommend for you to go out and waste 80 minutes on watching, as it just simply isn't worth the trouble. Nor is it a movie that will ever grace my screen a second time.
The movie's cover was actually the best part about the entire ordeal. And naturally it over-sold the movie by a landslide.
My rating of writer and director Tony Gibson's 2024 movie "Gypsy Moon" lands on a four out of ten stars.
