Three Wives, One Husband

One question has really bugged me out through the TWOH, how the hack do they afford to feed all those children? Feed them, clothe them, educate them, crazy! Yeah one time, it has been mentioned that some working though it seems non of the male characters had a regular jobs. Do they collectively raise money or some people are donating to the community or what? Also what will happen if they keep multiplying as is, and having 16 children, not a sustainable community life.

This show sucks you in but I got a strong sense they only showed the viewer what they were ok with people seeing. They talked about people being concerned about the women and I believe most peoples concern was for the children. They showed the budding romance of two sixteen year olds but what about the 15 year olds forced to marry adults? In some polygamous groups they believe a young girl is ready to marry when she starts menstrating and they've been married off as young as 11 years old. It's called pedophilia and it was buried during the making of this film unfortunately. Also when the Chris character was shooting off a gun and all the men got together for a meeting I found it rather sickening it was just the men when women are usually inclined to protect children and not a single one was at a meeting to do with a man shooting a gun around their kids. And he mentioned that the girl he propositioned about being a sister wife was young and maybe that's why she was so upset, I was so curious as to know how young? It must have been young if they didn't say the age. Its difficult to protect children when they're raised to keep quiet and to please but what better way to make a victim or an obeying wife. I really hope for the best for the children.

Polygamy a taboo subject is handled with care, explores without sugar coating the day to day issues of their chosen marital arrangements. This is not a cult but rather a closeted community of like-minded spiritual people living out of sight because of their religious beliefs and their need to live the life they believe brings them closer to God. While well done and informative, I would have rated this documentary higher if polygamy laws and fear of prosecution were not just touched upon but instead explored the arguments for and against in better detail. All in all this docu-series provides a perspective of polygamy one should see and understand before passing judgement.

The only people making a true sacrifice in this polygamous lifestyle are the WOMEN! Go fig. The man can marry whomever, whenever, and however many he wants...while these women become wife #1-5, get one night with the man, and have to put on a "happy face" like they are so happy with their lifestyles. Ugh!
