A neonoir puzzler in the spirit of classic Chandler/Bogart flicks but with a protagonist who vapes instead of chain smokes. Jordi Vilasuso is an extremely charismatic gumshoe. Like any strong detective movie, it bears (and practically requires) repeated viewings. Whether or not you can piece together the plot on a first watch, the scene-to-scene action is delivered with flair, energetic pace, and cool visual concepts. Genre aside, this is an indie thriller with high production value and a dynamic ensemble cast. Clyde Cooper has the potential to become a fictional universe in its own right.

I wasn't expecting much but Jordi Vilasuso as Clyde Cooper showed signs of becoming a big star. The female cast were all lovely and charming. And the script was funny. I liked it. It won't win any Oscars but it's not a waste of time.
