On the front of the law library building near to where I live there is the famous quote, written in both French and English - It says "Leave no stone unturned". The French is "Remuer ciel et terre", literally, "shake up the sky and the earth". What happens in this documentary is closer to the sky than the earth. It is perhaps the alignment of stars, something inexplicable intertwined with something very human. If you're reading this you probably already know it's a documentary about a man who was accused of a murder. I won't say anything further because it really is quite the story, of people and actions that came together, intentionally and unintentionally.
Both the LA Detectives and the District Attorney should be in Jail.
Those three "curbed my enthusiasm" for LA's judicial system.
On the other hand, Juan's attorney, Todd Melnik, is a saint.
Ok, time to revisit CYE S4, E6.

This is definitely an interesting story, I think it could the storytelling could have been a bit better. I didn't feel as engaged in the story as I hoped.
This is a really great short documentary. The story unfolds as Juan and his lawyer try desperately to prove that he was at a dodgers game with his daughter and not off murdering a man. The show is well made and unfolds unexpectedly. A great watch and an amazing story.
The system is so corrupt and filled with holes. And I really sat here praying and wishing so hard that that prosecutor Silverman one day will get hers, that she herself or one of her children will have to go through something like this. Just for her to know..to feel what it's like. She made me nauseous the way she looked the way she acted. A criminal ironically locking up innocent people. And there are probably millions of other people in the word like her. The system is flawed..in many, many ways. It made me so mad and most of all sad.

- TriviaThe title of this documentary, "Long Shot," has a double meaning. Crowd footage at a baseball game is likely to be filmed from a distance - the definition of a "long shot" in camerawork parlance. And there was only a very small chance that Catalan's lawyers would be able to find any footage exonerating him - so their defense strategy was figuratively a "long shot."

Larry David: Maybe, I don't know, every few years, somebody will bring it up or something and I'll tell the story. Maybe I'll tell it at a party, how I got a guy off of a murder. You know. Um. Impress a date with it, I don't know.
