The Wrong Man

...Had been batting 1000, they totally fooled Madison/Carnage (Matt Frewer in one of his best character roles to date, surpassing even Moloch from Watchmen) and they even found Isaac's pseudo-Bancroft-making 3-D printer.

But when it comes to interrogating Dimi the other twin (Michael Eklund/the great Matt Biedel), they fail miserably.

As Dimi in Matt's sleeve says:

"Where is the voice that said altered carbon would free us from the cells of our flesh? The visions that said we would be angels. Instead, we became hungry for things that reality could no longer offer. The lines blurred. You want to know who I work for? The people who understood that, used it to become wealthy beyond words in the only currency that truly matters: the appetites of the immortal"

So they did not really get much out of that guy and he becomes more of a threat later on.

Unfortunately Kovacs makes a huge error by not applying his envoy training that tells him to look at every little thing in every circumstance. And there is a cost.

I have to admit, Joel Kinnaman spoiled us as far as the character of Riker/Kovacs was concerned.

Because the idea of "disposable sleeves" means that you better not get used to any particular actor being Kovacs.

And that is exactly what happened. The concept was set up in this very episode, where Dimi kept sleeve-jumping.

After a slowish season start, this show's pace is starting the pick up and getting interesting. Looking forward to the next episode.

Yes, the pace often gets slow and the story intertwines with confusion. Nevertheless I am going to give it one more try because I think that the subject is promising. One more thing, though. These thespians have terrible times with enonciation. Sometimes it becomes very very difficult to understand their mumblings, mostly from the lead actor. Is it a big trouble to pronounce your phrases properly without losing your quality acting? Is this a Marlon Brando revival (talking about fuzzing)? Actors of Altered Carbon: speak clearly, please! It will help the show, not to mention your careers. By the way, my favorite performer here is miss Martha Higareda.

Some answers that finally reveal Ortega's motivations come to light. And a major breakthrough in the Bancroft murder investigation seems to bring some threads together that were bothering me. The characters feel more in synch in The Wrong Man. Some of the show's bleakness lifts in this episode. And we finally find out who Ryker is.

A little too much time spent on ancillary characters slows the episode down, like the previous one. Max Headroom's Matt Frewer makes an appearance as the owner of Fight Drome in a scene that was too long. Otherwise, the pace is back up and the series starts to find some heart.

I take back my frustration with the previous episode. Although, the reveal might have been better suited for the end of that hour because it left the episode feeling unresolved. This one gets cozy and answers finally start flowing.

Then the blood bath. Gahhhhh. Tarantino style, baby.
