Tom Green, Les Stroud, and Jessi Combs in Interviewing Monsters and Bigfoot (2019)
Cory Mathis (Les Stroud), a respected college professor, claims a mythical forest creature killed his wife transforming him into a man haunted by obsession and revenge. He partners up with legendary Big Foot hunter Fran Andersen (Stacy Brown Jr.) who is out to collect the Nat Geo 10 million dollar bounty for capture of the creature. Unfortunately, by-the-book forest ranger, Billy Teal (Tom Green), a covert government agency and a serial hoaxer (Rick Dyer) have other plans. A dark and witty comedy with a dysfunctional protagonist, a twisted narrative, and a series of events that builds into a shocker of an ending. The Canadian duo of Tom Green and Les Stroud hit it out of the forest.

    Unexpectedly funny

This isn't big theater ready movie BUT an enjoyable Sunday afternoon Amazon movie. There were so many scenes that made me laugh because I could identify people I have met, not just in MO but all over the US.

It is to movies, what Rick Dyer is to Bigfoot.

Anyone who knows anything about Bigfoot, will realize this is just another exploitation of the subject. I enjoy some of the low budget Bigfoot parody movies, but when Rick Dyer shows up in a Bigfoot movie, playing himself, you know it's junk.

    This is dumb and fun

This movie will not win any awards, it's in the same vein as velocipastor. It's completely bonkers and a laugh from the sheer ridiculousness. I enjoyed it.

    But it was so pointless...

Right, well from the movie's title, then I thought I would be in for something funny, and perhaps even something unique. And I saw the movie was listed as a comedy, so I had some hopes for "Interviewing Monsters and Bigfoot".

Turns out that this was a big steaming pile of... Well, you get my meaning here. Let's just sober up and be civil. This movie was bad in many, many ways. So bad, in fact, that I only managed to suffer through 35 minutes of the 2019 ordeal that is known as "Interviewing Monsters and Bigfoot".

I had problems getting into the storyline, and it didn't really help me much as there was literally nothing worthwhile to witness. Nor did it help that the characters in the movie were flaccid, bland and every bit as pointless as the storyline.

Whatever it was that writer and director Thomas Smugala was trying to accomplish with this movie, it was a massive swing and a miss in terms of entertaining me. And I can in all honesty say that I have no intention of ever returning to watch the rest of the movie, because it just failed to appeal to me on any level.

My rating of the movie lands on a two out of ten stars, mostly given the effort and production level put into the project.

Arguably One of The Worst Films Ever Made

What exactly led me to the doorstep of this film? It's my penchant for all things Sasquatch and Bigfoot related. Now I know, this is a bizarre fascination to have but I have always enjoyed the idea of a race of furry monsters living in the subterranean cave systems of the Pacific Northwest.

Of course, this film is based in Missouri, which does have some cave systems but then again, those caves are used for fermenting cheese and stuff. That is real, look it up. And then the fact this is supposed to be a comedy...ugh.

Admittedly, there were a couple funny bits, but beyond that, this movie turned into an incoherent mess. First of all, it had no idea whether it wanted to be a weird folk tale, a mockumentary or something else entirely. It was a jarring mess to say the least, as suddenly we were introduced to random characters that played no role later in the movie.

The plot is equally messy, with a Sasquatch hunter trying to get evidence that the beast exists while the government supposedly is trying to stop him. It goes back and forth with various plot lines and it ultimately stumbles into a jumbled ending that came out of nowhere.

This movie was bad. So bad I don't ever want to visit Missouri because of it. So bad I kinda wished Tom Green didn't beat his cancer. Okay that was a low blow, but what was he doing in this? It's not like his name recognition brought any additional laughs. For the most part, he played a straight man and this "comedy" as a whole was played straight. Either way, this is an atrocity and I don't recommend you watch it. Watch Suburban Sasquatch or something else Sasquatch adjacent.
