This is the latest presentation in the WWE produced Marine film series. I've seen a couple of them and I recall liking the original 2006 movie The Marine, with John Cena. However, this one was barely watchable, in my opinion.
Shawn Michaels and Mike "The Miz" Mizanin star here as two ex-Marines who are trying to help a Vietnam Vet squatting in a huge abandoned and dilapidated apartment complex, in Portland, Oregon. But they will stumble upon the hideout of some Irish mob kidnappers. They've taken the daughter of a jury member in a murder trial involving one of their leaders , as they try and force a mistrial in the case.
What will ensue will be one fight scene after another, either hand-to-hand combat or weaponry, as the two ex-Marines along with the kidnapped young woman try and fight their way out of the enormous building. I might mention here that Becky Lynch is believable as the sadistic head of the kidnappers. There's a twist towards the end of the film that probably few would have predicted.
Overall, there's just too much stilted dialogue and repetitive fight scenes for my liking here. The banter between Michaels and The Miz offers some comic relief at times, but it's not always effective. As mentioned earlier, it's watchable but barely, as I see it.

The no-spoilers-here plot twist three quarters into the sixth instalment of the WWE Films' Marine franchise definitely threw me for a loop, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one.
Overall, this was the weakest entry in the series since Mike 'The Miz' Mizanin assumed the titular role in The Marine 3. The action is highly unbelievable - which is truly saying something for this franchise, which almost wears it's check your credulity at the door action sequences like a badge of honour - and the acting is pretty horrible, too.
Shawn Michaels' character getting around the place at a run and even leaping through the air after being impaled on some rebar did it for me. I mean, I don't mind a movie that stretches the imagination, but this was too far; just dumb in places. Michaels can barely act.
A shame the franchise ended this way. After a disappointing second entry, Mizanin really rejuvenated what had begun as a John Cena vehicle. This, though, was a mis-step.

I actually like to watch all these low budget Direct-to-Video action movies and I have watched all the entries in the Marine sequels. Out of all these sequels The Marine 6: Close Quarters is easily the weakest of them all. I know no one is watching these movies excepting a great script or great acting or anything like that, still all the other Marine movies were a one time watchable action flicks which managed to entertain me with some solid action and fight scenes, whereas in this one the action and fight scenes feel quite dull and very choreographed and they also have one of the worst/dumbest twist i have ever seen. So if you like the previous Marine movies and you are a fan of the WWE and old school action movies and you have 90 mins to spare you can give this one a try otherwise just leave this one behind.
I won't lie I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.lol. The story line ain't all that but this movie had no dull moment.👏👏👏👏👏
I have seen all of the previous Marine films and have enjoyed them, yes the acting needs work but the budget seemed to have been okay and this also goes for the action sequences.
Now I don't know what happened with this movie, maybe the WWE did t want to give anymore money to these movies as they were not the cash cows they thought they could and would be.
Here we get awful acting especially from Martyn Ford, stop giving this idiot movies to star in. He ruined and I mean ruined the Undisputed movie he was in, that one was the worst out of the whole series and here he is awful in every scene he is in.
Yeah if you think his acting is bad well th same goes for Michaels as well.
The whole movie stinks of cheapness and it shows from the awful acting and dialogue to the action scenes.
Give this one a wide berth and watch one of the previous ones.

- GoofsAfter rescuing Sarah from the baddies in the disused brewery building, Jake asks Sarah her name. But he heard Maddy address Sarah by name just a couple of minutes prior, so he would have already known her name. However, Jake is a trained EMT, and Sarah has visible head wounds; he is probably asking her the question to make sure she is lucid and is not suffering from a brain injury.
