First of all, this game isn't as scary as the usual horror Games nowdays but it's pretty scary. This game will force you to explore to progress the story. I had a couple of encounters with some big sea creatures and it scared me trying to avoid and run away from it. The goal of this game is to go deeper and you'll need supplies for that so exploring is 100% necessary. You build bases and explore, rinse and repeat and add some terrifying creatures then that's subnautica and That's why this game is so great. This game is very relaxing and addicting at the same time. The scenery and creatures are 10/10, and the storyline has insane lore to it.
TLDR: Don't play if you're a weenie that's easily scared of horror games, but do play if you want a nice exploration game
Pros:
Cons:
Conclusion: Solid game for what it is, would recommend for fans of other open world games such as RDR2, GTA or Skyrim.
Pros:
- Really cool creature design
- Massive map that takes a lot of time to fully explore
- Atmospheric horror is very well done
- Game does take quite long to beat
- Extensively mapped out lore
- Good, simplistic mechanics
- Flexible gameplay
- Leviathans are awesome
Cons:
- Can be a bit too scary in certain aspects (Inactive Lava Zone, Void, Back of Aurora)
- Incredibly glitchy (constant bugging with animal models)
- Lack of updates due to support being relocated to Below Zero
- Plot, story and how to beat the game can be difficult for newbies
Conclusion: Solid game for what it is, would recommend for fans of other open world games such as RDR2, GTA or Skyrim.
This game is one big (and amazing) metaphor for shadow work. Once you breach the surface for the first time you begin facing the (initially) uncomfortable truth of who you really are. Monsters start showing up pretty quickly and it terrifies you, but the more you familiarise yourself with them the less dangerous they turn out to be. Some can even be tamed (for a short while). And the more you begin to master the environment, the deeper you're able to dive, and the bigger and scarier the monsters seem to be. Until you find out how to handle them as well and the true fear of death you experienced earlier when confronting these beast steadily becomes less and less. And ever deeper it goes as it must. Until you cannot go any deeper... I won't spoil what you find there, but it might turn out that you're not too bad after all once you've uncovered the deepest truths of who you really are.
Have a great journey on Planet 4546B - I know I did for almost 100 hours on the first playthrough.
Oh, and one last note... Playing Subnautica on a screen is a nice experience. Playing it in VR is 'effing' amazing - even with the half-baked and buggy VR support. Just make sure to install the VR Enhancements on Nexus Mods.

I first got this in early access with a humble bundle pack and really didn't get all that into it. Then I finally came back to it after it was finally released and man am I addicted. None of the other survival games hooked me like this one. The swimming may seem like a novel mechanic, but it really adds depth to the survival genre. It's a fun progression which has yet to get boring. It's simple, but not too simple which may only have it's draw back later in game play where the simplicity will show its face. For what it is, it's an amazingly fun survival game with a fun surprising story along the way.
This might actually be the best survival game ever made! There are so many reasons why I love this Game. Here's my list
1. The story: The story is great. Basically you land on this abandoned planet the has a very deadly disease on it called the Kharaa. Your goal is to get off the island without being infected.
2. The setting: This maybe one of the most beautiful game I have ever played. The water looks amazing. Don't even get me started on the way the light bounces of surfaces and the water.
3. The sound/music: OH MY GOD THIS GAMES SOUND DESIGN IS OFF THE CHART!!! Not only is the music awesome, the sounds of all the creatures are absolutely amazing.
4. The creatures: The animals are very creative. The game devs made Giant scary water monsters and also sweet creatures that you cant help but love.
If you're not sure about buying this game I would watch JackSepticEye's latest play through of it. Then you might buy it.
