Seriously one of the best episodes so far. Movie quality special effects and a moving personal story dealing with physical and mental disabilities. It's nice to see an episode featuring a minor character. Anyone recognize Dr. Phlox from Star Trek Enterprise? Robert Picardo ( from Star Trek Voyager continues Orville's tradition of using former Star Trek Veterans both in front and behind the cameras.. Kudos to Seth McFarland for willing to get away from space battles to tell a more personal story about dealing with a disability and at the same time showing that you are still valuable for your talents. Some truly scary moments.
I'm happily surprised to see 2 Star Trek alumni, but the best thing of this ep is the filming and visual. Every frames of filming on Xelaya can be used as a desktop wallpaper, and the moment Alara riding "eevek" (similar to a unicorn), she looks like a Goddess.
Truly great sci-fi. Great storytelling, great characters, great special effects, bright. To All the naysayers I'm not sure what they want in sci-fi. Sci-fi isn't just people shooting each other all the time with high-tech weapons.
If you have a withdrawal of watching aliens and humans kill each other with high-tech weapons go ahead and watch the other 99% of Hollywood Sci-Fi Productions. I gave this episode 10 out of 10, because it's the Oroville it automatically gets a 9 out of 10.
This was what made Star Trek great in it's day, the story within the story, and that they found a solution to a problem only to be too late or that problem taking a turn.
I must say I din't see it go dark when it did, and creepy as well. Please give us at least 7 seasons of this greatness.

- TriviaThe house of Lt. Kitan's parents is the same filming location as the parental house of Johnny Rico from the movie Starship Troopers (1997). Incidentally, both sets of parents disagree with their child's choice to join the galactic fleet.
- GoofsAt the very beginning of the episode, Dr. Finn informs Alara that her muscle mass has deteriorated by 20%, to which Alara reacts with shock. That would be a massive drop in her ability to function. She should have noticed such a large drop in muscle mass (or the writers should have picked a smaller, more believable percentage of deterioration).
- Quotes
Lt. Alara Kitan: Open your stupid ears and listen: All I ever needed to hear from you was "You can do it". That's all. Just once. And-and maybe it would have been a lie, but I needed that, dad. I really needed it. And you know who said it to me instead? Captain Mercer, Commander Grayson, and everyone on the Orville. But not my own father.
