As an adult the level of representation speaks to my inner child! I love the music especially the theme song! The diversity of LES and the issues that surface that moon girl and D face. I love the voice actors!! They do such an amazing job. I can't wait to have a kid so they can watch this show one day. I love the character development and how each voice actor represents the culture of the character. I love the community and how they come together in the show. I mean it's so beautifully written with such intention it's very clear. It's such a modern cartoon with a classic touch. A Black Family that owns a skating rink that loves their neighbors and their neighbors love them!! It doesn't get any better than that.
Some music scenes reminded me of the Jackson Five cartoons. Yes, I'm an old(er) viewer. But I still love animation/cartoons. I have managed to watch about 6 episodes so far. The animation is top notch. I love the relationship of Lunella/Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. The Casey character is one of my favorites to come along in a long time. The parents and grandparents are really cool and up-to-date. I hadn't heard of the comic and found the show while flipping through channels one afternoon. The music is great and very up-to-date sounding. I'm hoping the show is able to attract a loyal following. It's a really cute show.
Don't listen to the old grumps complaining that it wasn't made for them because it doesn't appeal to people that read a comic from 1978. This is a fun, light show with animation that pops and has a great style. My 8-year-old daughter enjoys it. Some of the references go over her head (i.e. Internet trolls, social media) but when it's on she's pretty enamored with it and I find myself enjoying too.
I've seen some people complaining its not deep and that there's not much character development and while that is true can't help find that rich coming from a generation whose cartoons were thirty minute toy commercials.
Anyways, I love the narration that feels like a throwback to Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons (how's that for old). I like the family dynamic and you can never go wrong with Alfre Woodard. If you got kids check it out and watch it with them, you might find yourself having fun with it too.

This is one of those situations as a 30 year old I'm jealous of kids, we might have had Proud Family and maybe Danny Phantom, but wow this is amazing animation and story telling: I'm not the target demo for this but I am eternally grateful for this series: even if you're just a music fan you have to check this out because Raphael Saadiq supervising the music is literally a dream come true for why audiophiles out there. Even the commercial break transitions are pristine. If you're into animation this is incredible. If you're a kid that like good stories this is better than even old school Batman and the Justice League cartoons.
There's so much to appreciate-
It doesn't take itself too seriously but is still watchable by adults/teens
Lunella is adorable and has a great dynamic with Casey
Lunella's family is supportive, loving, and in general breaks every overdone edgy trope
She also roller skates which isn't really a pro for everyone but it definitely is for me!
It handles hard to execute properly themes well Casey is great and I love that her femininity is never demonized The art style is really fun and distinct The beyonder is camp in all the best ways.
Good songs!
Overall it's just really fun and fluffy and has quickly become a comfort show
The only real cons are- The whole weekly lesson format, It's not horrible but it definitely breaks immersion sometimes.
Some villains fall flat and are unremarkable, again this isn't horrible for me because what I love the most is the main/ secondary cast but it would understandably be a deal breaker for some.
