    • Trivia
Cal Medina is clearly based on Martin Shkreli one of the most hated men in America. In 2015 his company acquired the drug Pyrimethamine (known by the brand name Daraprim), an antiparasitic used to treat toxoplasmosis and cystoisosporiasis as well as (in combination with other drugs) malaria and AIDS. He then raised the cost of the drug in the United States from $13.50 per pill to a whopping $750 per pill, 56 times the original cost. In 2022 Shkreli was ordered to pay back $64.4 million made in profits by inflating the price of the drug, and barred for life from any role in the pharmaceutical industry or running a public company, after a case was brought against him by the Federal Trade Commission and seven different states. Despite Mr Shkreli's absence of several years due to a prison term, his former company has declined to lower the price of the drug.

Sherlock Holmes: Look. I've never felt any pressure from you that I co-parent. But, your idea that I take *no* responsibility for raising your child is naïve. It's not that I think you're incapable of raising a child on your own. Of course you are. But, short of us dissolving our partnership, I'm not capable of not being involved. No-no, not as a child's father, but as its mother's friend.

[Deeply sincere and with great regard]

Sherlock Holmes: I mean, I'd lay down my life for you. So, if you succeed in adopting a child, I'd lay down my life for him or her's. It's as simple as that.

Dr. Joan Watson: Have you thought about what you wanna be called by my kid? I mean, assuming... I get one.

      [At his surprised silence]

Dr. Joan Watson: I was thinking... Uncle Sherlock.

Sherlock Holmes: Yeah, well, I've been called worse. I'd also settle for Detective.

Dr. Joan Watson: My child is not calling you *Detective*.

Sherlock Holmes: [Shrugging, but obviusly touched] Well, Uncle Detective, then.
