Once again, Frank is played contrary to Tom Selleck's Libertarian leanings in that he is willing to sacrifice privacy for perceived safety by circumventing the 4th Amendment in order to access information on a phone. The scenario here is "ripped from the headlines" where in 2016 the FBI was denied access by Apple to their phone's software. The FBI eventually used a third party to obtain the data from the phone.
