Very good flashback episode showing how Howie joined the 118. Not just a rehash of Hen's episode either. Actually tied in well with the end of the last episode. Great music too.
This episode has to be the best of the entire series in my opinion. It was so emotional it made me shed some tears.

Everything about this episode was spectacular. Heart-warming, honest, and engrossing story-telling, great direction and editing, great acting, amazing dialogue. It just had everything. This is one of the absolute best TV episodes of all time. This one deserves an award.

It was Hen's turn in the last flashback and now it's Chim's in the aptly-titled "Chimney Begins".
Two flashback/backstory episodes down and they've both been excellent. It's great seeing the first interactions amongst the characters before they were colleagues.
Kenneth Choi has been great from the outset as Chim, and gets a well-deserved showcase here.

This episode highlights the range of Kenneth Choi's skills as an actor. I'm not a regular viewer of this show, but I'll watch it if nothing else is on. It was refreshing to see an entire episode about his character & back story.
Kenneth Choi was the best part of this episode and I'm excited to see more of his work in the future.
The second best part of the episode was Lou Ferrigno Jr. ;)

Just as things were getting interesting, they decide to bore us with another useless character centric episode. True it wasn't as whiny and filled with self indulgent bs, like that Hen episode was. But still, that's not why I've decided to keep watching. The thing with this show, is that it takes itself so seriously sometimes, it's very off putting. Which lacks honesty too. Obvious bait and switch...
I get doing the back story thing. But did we really need to see Howie go through basically the same thing that Hen did as a rookie? Last year's episode Hen Begins was much better and more compelling.
Total waste of an hour. Who cares is all I'm left asking after wasting my time on this filler episode. I'd rather have had a week off than this garbage.
