Belly Flop

A girl with blackberry-like hair. Her grandmother, her dog and her pink novel. At pool. A sort of competition and the efforts of poor, nice Penny to be ...admired. The last challenge. And the happy result. All is seductive in the case of this short animation. The characters , the try to dive, the colors and clarity, the virtues of young Penny and the self estime of her blonde rival. And, off course, the moral. You love Penny from the firs scene. Not only for the courage, kindness and for the hard efforts to learn , for the fanny result and terrible persistance but because, after so many "modern" animations, he gives and reminds the flavours of childhood in the most inspired manner. So, a beautiful animation. In profound sense.

Who would have guessed a belly flop could save the day? This is a funny animated short film about a fearless young girl who wants to dive into the water and be applauded-just like the professional diver she sees at the pool.

The sad truth is, she's not that good at it and ends up landing belly-first. But this wouldn't be an animated comedy if things didn't take a strange turn, would it?

I like the story, the animation is pretty decent, and the film leaves you with a good feeling. I'd say it's one of those feel-good animations-despite the cringey feeling I got every time she belly-flopped hard into the water!
