I thought this was funny to watch. I like watching Spanish movies and shows so naturally, it was a must watch for me. What I saw was pretty good. The characters are interesting and work well off each other. It was nice to see black Spaniards. Rarely are they shown in Spanish cinema. The story's well paced, it'd funny and has a simple yet good lesson about integration.
Speaking of race, some of the things the villagers do are a little cringeworthy. From being shocked that they speak Spanish to in one instance, placing a hand on one of the guys forehead due to his color. Otherwise, this was an interesting movie.

I don't have much to say. I just thought it was a painfully boring movie with bad comedy. It was also very... Racially charged? In a way that made me uncomfortable throughout the whole movie. I don't think they really accomplished that "inclusion" message they tried to give.
The actors were good and the characters were well-developed, plus a heartwarming development later in the story (imo).
But even if the movie frames the village people as behind the times and racist, it still doesn't make it any less uncomfortable to watch them make light of it. The black characters felt unrealistic and one-dimensional, too.
TL;DR: The comedy is weak, and had they consulted a sensitivity reader or someone from the area they wanted to represent, I feel like this would have been a VERY different movie.
Por si las moscas: I'm Hispanic and watched the movie in the original Spanish.

I didnt like the movie because of the unrealistic script , Racilly uncorrect storyline and the Stereotype way they directed the movie, its kinda laughable and pathetic , who came up with the crazy idea for weird story of the tribal African people running in the snow in a european village ??? And they also speaking spanish.. ? A bove of that The village people are calling them apes and criminals etc .. ?? , I canceled my netflix after watching that Movie .
did the director and writer of the movie
lived under a rock for all these years and didnt notice that its 2019 and not 1940 ?? The movie was very cringe watching and is very bad. The black actors need to be blamed to cus they got also a hand in this foolery.
It's a well made movie with apt casting and good - acting, background score and editing. It's light hearted and flows in a singular rhythm. Neither it bores you for a second, nor it accelerates your heartbeat or pumps your adrenaline at any point of time.
Amongst all it's comedies and mash up of two distinct cultures i.e. of European whites and African blacks, it teaches you the virtue of cultural integration and tolerance and depicts the fact that such a mammoth task is actually quite natural and easy if we are ready to see the things from all the perspectives.
The movie is a big slap on the mindset of stereotyping communities or races.
For humans, nothing can surpass the need of human companionship and two individuals can feel compatible irrespective of difference in age, race, color, nationality, social status, literacy level and the likes.

Integration is good, racism is bad, and everybody needs love. And laughs, which is something this movie provides... in moderation :)
