BIRBAL

It is a must and should watch for crime/suspense/thriller genre lovers. The strength of the movie is the story, screenplay, dialogues and importance of every bits in the movie. The main negative thing is it's lengthy. It could have sliced in much better way. The song was not at all needed. The screenplay of the movie and VFX which is used are fresh. Kannada audience should support this type of movies so other makers can make like wise movies.

A decent crime thriller

After the success of his 2016 rom-com - Srinivasa Kalyana, MG Srinivas is back with a crime thriller. The story begins with the murder of a cab driver and an innocent guy, Vishnu (VJ Vineeth of OMK fame) who happens to pass by the crime spot is framed by the police. A young laywer, Mahesh (MG Srinivas) takes up this case to find out the real killer & to prove Vishnu as not guilty. How he does this, is what the movie's all about. The plot is interesting with quite a lot of twists. All the actors have acted well and the cinematography & the background scores are impressive. The title track of the movie is psychedelic, having vividly intense and abstract beats. However what hampers this movie from making it a great watch is its slow pace and lengthy screenplay which will bore you in between. Although the movie can get you confused with so many things happening, the climax is explained really well, with each & every scene shown in detail. All in all, this is a decent thriller to watch.

Decent investigative thriller

I watched this movie without having much expectations. But, it was surprisingly enjoyable. Movie is based on a good script and decent performances. Though I felt the movie was little dragged in between, good climax compensates for it. Overall, it's a good movie to watch.

Worth every penny

Its a great honour to the kannada industry to have such mesmerising scripts, directors, actors etc., and there was a link in every segment of the movie. There wasn't even a bit of confusion in the conclusion. As its a trilogy i am waiting for the rest two parts. Its a must watch film. A good family entertaining thriller. Worth every penny

An Ordinary Thriller Movie

I just felt it as an ordinary investigative thriller movie. There are some twists but most of them are to be guessed by the audience. In Malayalam there was a movie released called Anjam Pathira. And I have also seen, HIT: The first case and Evaru. Forensic was another Malayalam movie. Considering all these movies this one is far below in its theme I think. There were many loopholes.

It is a watchable movie.

An engaging legal investigative thriller

Birbal Trilogy: Case No. 1 (2019) Kannada, Movie review,

An engaging legal investigative thriller that has a fair share of comedy and an unique narrative style which is bound to impress.

Mahesh Das (M. G. Srinivas) is a young lawyer who is recruited by a reputed law firm and is handed the case of Vishnu (Vineeth Kumar). Eight years ago Vishnu was arrested and sentenced to jail for a murder he didn't commit. How Mahesh with the help of his girlfriend Jahnavi (Rukmini Vasanth) and his associate Shastri (Sujay Shastry) finds justice for Vishnu and unmasks the real killer is the rest of the story.

The highlight of the movie is it's unique narrative style that focusses on the viewpoint of four characters, while not losing the element of suspense and yet very much comprehensible for any average moviegoer. The suspense and the storytelling progression is adeptly laced with comic moments that does not deter the attentiveness of the audience.

Writer-Director-Actor M. G. Srinivas does a commendable job in all the three departments. Acting wise, Vineeth Kumar will definitely catch your attention. He convincingly portrays the journey of Vishnu from an innocent boy to a shocked, panicked, broken, bitter, angry, helpless and finally into a man who has been granted hope. The cinematography by Bharath Parasuram is very good. His camera captures the hustle and bustle of Bengaluru and the rainy scenes with an expert hand. However, the editing is a big letdown as the movie feels too long and an effective edit would have enhanced the movie quality. The screenplay also should have been better adjusted.

Summing up, Birbal is a very exciting watch that should be in your viewing list.

Best Magnum Opus of Kannada after KGF Chapter 1

I saw both KGF Chapter 1 and Birbal Trilogy, and I appreciate both of the movies for their Magnum Opus stories. This thriller movie keeps suspense and doesn't spoils the investigation of a murder of a cab driver, who was a police informer. Srinivas M G had made a brilliant story and I loved it. This movie is a must watch.

Unofficial remake of Korean movie New Trail

Below average remake of Korean movie called New Trail. They added one heroine's character and few songs which had nothing to do with main plot. Also the Director didn't give credits to the original movie, and takes the story credit himself.

Surprisingly good Mystery thriller

I watched this movie with zero expectations and I was pleasantly surprised that MG Srinivas could come up with this twisted plot of solving murder mystery - Finding Vajramuni. There are bit loop holes which are negligable and needs to be rectified and next part.

surprisingly overated film

A smart team is behind the movie, but there is nothing of a new substantial message for the viewers. A crowd of twists and turns made it taxing and tasteless. Among so many new good Indian movies, such an effort is hoped not to be repeated. As also I believe the director is able enough to present. However, best wishes for the hero and director, if a movie is free of non-artistically stretched out of proportion. No objection to the performance of the actors, editors, camera-folk etc.

But I was very motivated by the rating and kept on waiting for some pivotal jerks. But long before the end I got disillusioned.

Leaving the rest for other views and the team.

Too Predictable....

Birbal trilogy- What a grand title! Narration looks like the movie is made based on the title itself. For actor 'MG Srinivas' this would be a masterpiece in his career. All the actors in the movie did their best to maintain the genuine flavour of the script. But the real problem was main plot and screenplay.... It would have been one of the best scripts if this movie was released in 2000. With all the technology available nowadays the quality and detailing for crime thrillers is at sky high. This movie majorly lacked that. But this movie delt with lot of emotions in Vishnu's life(Vineeth Kumar) which are very well written and they are main hidden backbones for the film. Starting from 1st scene u will be predicting what would happen and exactly the same way the movie will progress. If anyone say this is a good thriller, I would say it's a feel good, fun movie, u could watch with your family and it's one time watch for sure. Watch carefully from the beginning coz every detail counts...!!
