"These Old Bones" - Very heart-warming and well worth the watch!

I rarely take the time to write a review anything I watch but this episode is worth the time. It touched my heart. And not only was the storyline very believable and sincere, but also the acting and directing was excellent. It is something I truly want to share with others and will. Well done!

    Somehow it works

It's hard to review this one because some of the bits that make up the whole are tropes (and the seer mumbo-jumbo is silly). However, the fine direction, excellent acting (I've met women like Bones,a real type who comes alive with Turner's portrayal), and post-WWII era setting all seem to come together to create an entertaining episode of this series.

These Old Bones and Other Episodes of Heartstrings: Recommended

This review pertains to the collection of stories in Dolly Parton's "Heartstrings". I did find most of the episodes charming, yet they were overly sentimental. The good news: most of them grabbed me. I found Parton's songs and intros to be stirringly effective. The casting for each story was fairly good, some better than others. "These Old Bones" was predictable, but it has a positive message.

All in all, I would recommend this series. Each story comes with a nicely written, poignant life lesson. Those not familiar with Parton's TV productions might pre-judge this as fuddy-duddy or naive, but the stories cover pertinent themes. Thankfully, Parton has a non-judgmental approach, and her generous spirit and songwriting are awesome.

    Bones are the Best

Of all the Heartstrings episodes. These Old Bones is the best. Sweet, well told story. Great performances by all. Laughed and cried. Kathleen Turner was outstanding.

"Miss Mary" aka "Bones" makes you want to laugh, cry, and stand up and cheer!

A couple of days ago I watched "These Old Bones," the eighth episode of Netflix's "Heartstrings" based on Dolly Parton songs. If Kathleen Turner isn't nominated for an Emmy Award for her acting in "These Old Bones", something is wrong. I'm a grown man and I laughed and cried at her scenes.

This movie-length episode could have been as formulaic and corny as a Hallmark movie. But it wasn't, due to the wonderful characters, the writing, the beautiful setting and the heartfelt acting. It all added up to immersion in an emotional feel-good TV movie that I didn't want to end.

I enjoyed all the Heartstrings episodes, especially "Two Doors Down" and "J.J. Sneed." But "These Old Bones" is far and away the best of the series. I know because two days after watching it, it has stayed with me and I can't stop thinking about it. In fact, I loved it so much I find myself wishing that they would turn "This Old Bones" into a series of its own. Or at the very least make a sequel. I don't want it to end!
